There was no grand pronouncement that all was well and every offensive ill had been cured for the New Orleans Saints after their 31-7 victory over Arizona on Sunday at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome.
But after the closest approximation this season of what has become the norm for New Orleans’ offense, there was no doubt that the needle moved in the right direction, toward the high-octane sector of the efficiency meter. The Saints (3-0, and one of three undefeated NFC teams) posted single-game highs in points, touchdowns (four), rushing yards (104), first downs (27), red-zone efficiency (3 for 5), third-down efficiency (7 for 13), yards (423) and time of possession (35:31). Granted, it only was the third game of the young season. But for an offense that had produced 39 points in the first two games, and had gone 1 for 7 in the red zone, it was a welcome barrage of 17 points in the second half, and 31 unanswered after the Cardinals scored a touchdown on the opening drive. That gave the Saints the balance they’d lacked in the first two games. “I believe so,” quarterback Drew Brees said, when asked if he believed the team is beginning to form an identity. Re: New Orleans Saints offense hitting its stride
Idk. It seems our offense has not near hit its stride. They looked ok in the last half of the Cards game but before that we could have just as easily be 1-2 if the defense wasnt there to bail them out. We have only seen glimpses of what our offense is capable of so far. Hopefully they will get it together. If we cant get our run game going we will be 1 and done in playoffs.

Re: New Orleans Saints offense hitting its stride
As they said, lots of new pieces in place and I think they are just now beginning to come together on offensive side of the ball. This week should be a good measuring stick.

Re: New Orleans Saints offense hitting its stride
What an odd season. The defense carried us in the first two games and was sold in the third. We've been giving up sacks and pressure and it's not because of tackles it's because of interior linemen.
I'm expecting things to even out when Evans gets healthy. Lelito looks promising despite struggling on occasion. If the D continues to play solid football and Drew gets a little more time to throw we just might see the best team since Payton got here. (Could use a little more production at WR though.) |

Re: New Orleans Saints offense hitting its stride
The season is playing out oddly because of injury... A healthy Evans changes a lot of things, our defense is plagued but that is where the majority of our depth is.
