Nay Sayers Have No Heart
Ok, we'll probably not win this game as it is going right now, but if one of our players gave up now, stopped fighting, stopped clawing, stopped running, we'd say he had no heart. If we do pull it out, it will be due to the work horses like Duece, Horn, and (I'm going to say it) Brooks. If we don't, it won't be because these guys lay down and died.
You know, if a player were going to come out with the attitude that he was going to lose, or if he gave up on the team half way through saying things like "same ol' Saints", there isn't a single guy on this board who wouldn't be all over his azz for having no heart. All this makes me wonder the following: is it possible for fans to have no heart? |

well its hard when u have no control over the game and the players do. all u can do is sit back and watch ur team put another bad performance together. i will say we have played better the 2nd half. the d has actually stepped up but we need another big play on this next possesion by tampa. they r going to try to run it down our throat most likely. we have to be up to the challenge again

I think the Saint\'s fans have more heart than any other team in the NFL. Problem
is, this team keeps ripping our hearts out. Call it lack of heart, lack of discipline, lack of coaching, or whatever. Truth is, if you compare this teams 39 year record with the record ticket sales the fans put up every year, there is no contest. |

Luv,
I sort of agree with you. However, most of the players are aware of their team\'s history, and that doesn\'t kill their \"heart\". Why should it be different for us fans? |

JKool - we are still here, aren\'t we?
As fans we live and die on each play; remembering the dumb errors; and waiting for the media to laugh all over us again. |

UK,
Is just being there enough? I wonder. It seems that players who just show up for a paycheck have no heart. Don\'t take this the wrong way, I know you\'re a fan. I just wonder sometimes why we don\'t hold ourselves to standards we seem to value in our boys in the B&G? |

Players get traded and move-on to better teams, while the fans don\'t have that option. The fans support the team no matter who plays on it. The player supports the team that writes him the check. |

i\'ve \"had heart\" for the longest time, but you know what, there\'s point where it\'s time to **** or get off the pot, fish or cut bait, etc. i\'m tired, very tired off holding on to a hope, a ****ing sliver of hope that maybe these pampered ps would finally get their act together and give a **** about the game, their fans, the outcome, but no... i get a slap in the face.... two back to back losses to teams the previously haven\'t won a game all year, that\'s the breaking point... i can\'t do it anymore emotionally to be a fan of the new orleans aints

Ah, but each year is a new year. Why does the fact that we didn\'t win last year matter to how we support the team this year. The team is cutting new paychecks to new players, and I don\'t see why we can\'t see it the same way (i.e. new year, new chances)?
Even if we know the history, there is still something \"heartless\" about simply bad mouthing the team before the game starts, giving up on them half way through, sulking and so on. They\'re gonna fight, why can\'t we? |

You are all right!
Its different for everyone. I am really fed up with the Saints. I am sure there is effort coming from the heart of theirs. But the manner of losses; the lack of consistent 60 minutes of play - really makes you wonder about what the hell is worng. The way I see it is; Heart, Effort.... etc are a given in any serious competitor. But I EXPECT professionalism when the team is getting paid. And that\'s where I pause and question the team. Because I do not believe it is lack of talent at every position that separates us from the Patriots ........... or anyone in OUR division ......... or (ouch!) 49ers (who we scrape by), the (mighty) Cardinals, or the (all-conquering) Buccs. Where to next for the Saints. Oh yeh we will have that inspired team. But can I have a \"boring\" 60 minute-effective team please? |
