Mike and Mike blast the city of New Orleans

this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; The thing that bothers me about the comments were they were about ratings not truth. People stay tuned if you talk about how evil and scarey that boogeyman New Orleans is. I guess they have no reason to come here ...

I guess they have no reason to come here to Oakland - due to lack of interest. I have been to away games in 15 cities - The Dome in New Orleans is not even in the running for scary areas around the stadium. Any city that is large enough to host an NFL franchise is large enough to have an area of town that is frightening to people who don't get out much.

Exactly, comments like Mike's are shortsighted and usually come from someone who hasn't taken the time to research/know the city/people he's referring to, IMO. He just needs to spend a little time in the area off-the-clock before running his yap.

He is a product of his upbringing and his work environment...Everything he says and does is atypical, so shortsightedness is consistent with what he is...

Sound like he's just a pansy that doesn't know how to protect himself, i wouldn't consider Tampa a murderous or dangerous city but you better not get caught walking around too long or driving around in a fancy expensive car in the hood..
People that have lived a sheltered, picket fenced suburban outcast lifestyle tend to be scared of everything.. they have been sensitized, i feel sorry for those types.

From the responses I can guess the Greenie made these comments. Do us all a favor, go crawl in a hole and die. IMO he's the reason that show is impossible for me to listen to, his sissy stick is annoying and he very seldom adds to any topic

Re: Mike and Mike blast the city of New Orleans

As someone who is a white male from England and who goes to New Orleans at least 4 times a year, I feel well versed on giving an opinion here. I always keep my wits about me as I would in any city in the world. There are certainly areas that I wouldn't tread after dark by choice and some I may not go into at all unless there was a very good reason. Does anyone seriously think that is any different to any other city in the world?

During the week I live and work in London. The difference between some areas is astronomical. From a horrible area with a tonne of knife crime, inhabited by the scum of society to the areas where the bloody gentry live and cost an absolute fortune for the very smallest of homes!

Whilst I don't doubt people's stories, it is interesting to see everyone suddenly bring up a whole host of remarkable observations on what they have seen or had done to them. Maybe America does have a far greater problem than the UK. But I have never seen so many issues witnessed by so many people.

No surprises to everyone thinking guns are the answer as well Always an interesting cultural difference. No guns here, little to no gun crime and it would appear, a lot less violent crime. That is an observation, not an opinion. I am undecided on whether I think that is right or not, but it is not for England and I don't think it would do well to now remove it from the US.

If I wanna get shot or stabbed within a 500 mile radius, New Orleans is on my short list.
