First round draft pick should be a tackle.
While I was no fan of how Mike Ditka ran the Saints, at least the one positive thing he did was build a very good offensive line. And that's where games are won and lost. Haslett doesn't seem to put as much emphasis on this as I believe he should. Too often Brooks is being pressured from those positions and so has to make bad throws or bad decisions, which only compound his other problems. We need some big mean tackles and we need them in the worst way.

as a former o-linemen it is not all he lines fault.. the end are taught to puss the DE\'s around the outside to form a pocket.... many time brooks runs into trouble buy dropping to far back right into the DE\'s line rush... there is a pocket that is supposed to be formed around him, it does not good if he does not stay in it... oline is not what is needed...
how about matt jones , the QB from Arkansas as the first pick... 6\'5\" and runs a 4.3 40??? and can throw the ball 70+ yards? awesome [Edited on 12/10/2004 by TheJudge] |

All good ideas, however, I can hear it already:
With the 12th pick of the 2005 draft, the New Orleans Saints select: \"(Insert name here), defensive lineman from (insert college here)\" |

Saints needs in order of importance, IMO: (Players that is) LB (all - though Watson is a nice prospect) DT CB (you could reverse DT and CB, they\'re both big needs) C T QB |

Other than that little observation, isn\'t it maddening that this list of need positions looks incredibly like lists for the past 4 years with the exception of center? It\'s enough to drive you to drink. |

there are a few decent LB\'s and o-linemen that are goigng to be free agents next year.... the most important posistion is the qb, he is the leader... when he does not care, so the team goes....
and if you have to send someone making 6 mil a year to leadership classes, what does that say?? get a good young QB out of the draft and work with him... we had a grat prospect in JT o\'Sullivan, but GB has him and i think he will eventually take over the QB spot in a couple years.... many scouts said he is one of the best young talents out there, just needs polishing... |

The O-line has been a HUGE disappointment!! I Montrae Holland is terrible, Gandy get alot of penalties, and it seems to me that Bentley is better at guard(where he made the pro-bowl last year) than center. We DEFINTELY need o-line help!!
PS--Anyone else think letting Fontenot go was a HUGE mistake?!?! |

I\'ll be posting my top 5 picks in next years draft in my sig, here shortly. We have alot of flexibility this year, as long as we continue to lose and end up with a top 10 pick. I will say about next years draft, I don\'t care who\'s on the board, if Derrick Johnson is still there, you take him. Been a while since a linebacking prospect of his caliber has been drafted. |
