Don't care about Ingram. I care about Strief. That is not good news.

Re: MI active. Let the hating begin

To me the Ingram thing is all about opportunity cost. Fans are upset about his lack of production because of the opportunity cost of what the Saints could of had with the picks given up to get him. Payton & Loomis thought they were picking a back that could get a 3rd and 1 or a 4th and 1 even when the defense knew he was coming or else they wouldn't of spent so high (2nd round 2011 + 1st round 2012). Because the Saints didn't use the picks for defense (sorely needed in 2011 & 2012), everytime Ingram is stopped with little or no gain, the frustration builds.

Or maybe the frustration builds because he simply doesn't produce. I don't care whether he's a first-round draft pick or a seventh-round draft pick. His performance has been unacceptable either way.

I want so much for him to succeed because I love the way he runs when it's working. I could watch his highlight video all day. It's that much fun to watch him run. And I truly thought after last year that he had turned the corner and was so looking forward to seeing him have a huge season in 2013.

But that didn't happen. and those times when it's working are so few and far between. Meanwhile we've got a real good chance at another Super Bowl and can't afford to keep feeding the ball to a running back who does not produce.

You act like we have a superb run game except when M.I. is in the game... We haven't had a decent rushing game all season.

It got a little better last week, due more to better O-Line play(confirmed with Drew getting better pass protection as well)

Can't prove anything from the bench.

Hasn't proven anything with ball in hand.

It's time to cut bait.

Actually, no, I wasn't acting like that at all, and I'm not sure why you would even say such a thing.

What I am sure of is that Ingram's performance so far is clearly and vastly inferior to the three other running backs who have carried the ball for the Saints this season.

For some reason I still feel khiry seems more dangerous, at least he looks like he's trying to beat tackles or forcing forward to gain those extra yards.

I agree sort of. There was a stat last year that showed Ingram was near the very top of the league in 3rd down conversions. It's true it been bad this year but it hasn't always been bad for him.

Re: MI active. Let the hating begin

Limited practice on Wednesday the first week coming off an injury, and being active on the roster doesn't necessarily mean he will see much playing time if any.

We should reserve the panic or celebration after we see who is inactive.

Re: MI active. Let the hating begin

Here is something to ponder. Perhaps Ingram is just an average back. Nothing more and nothing less. An average back that ran behind a powerhouse line in Alabama that gave him huge holes to run through. It wouldn't be the first time that someone looked great playing on a powerhouse SEC team then got to the NFL and was average.

The adverse is also true some times... A player plays on an average college team then ends on on the Saints and Drew Brees makes them look like they should have been drafted by someone. :)

Re: MI active. Let the hating begin

I don't think Ingram's troubles are ALL Mark Ingram.
All the guys are struggling to get back to the line of scrimmage.
We are averaging like 77 and propping it up with the short passing game.
We have to do better up front and spread the field on 3rd/4th and short.
Payton keeps talking about 30/30 but I haven't seen the commitment yet.
They don't even look like they believe in running the ball.
A little success can change all of that so please don't stop trying to work it out.
I'm glad he's back. It's the only way he will get better and help us when we need him.

Since harper went down we have struggled against the run more and more every week, we are not better without harper, not even close

Re: MI active. Let the hating begin

This thread was "epic fail" from the title and the very first post, he was never "active," he merely returned to practice. I am glad people got to share and vent their feelings about Mark Ingram and get things off their chests, but personally, I am going the other direction completely. I don't even think about him anymore.

Khiry Robinson looks solid, and has been growing up right before our eyes out there. THAT'S the guy who is going to replace Pierre Thomas someday when Pierre finally hangs up the pads, which is what I'm far more worried about long term. I feel like THAT decision has pretty much already been made, or is solidifying right now. Robinson has a future with this team as a younger PT version 2.0, for when that day finally comes a few years from now. Ingram may stick around, or he may go somewhere else, he may even stay here another full two years of his full contract, but to me he's not really Mr. Relevant anymore.

The Bills game is a LONG way away, and I would much rather see Khiry build some character and confidence by going up against their weak run defense than see Ingram out there.

We have a better back than Ingram on the team and we just don't use him.

You think that all of a sudden Ingram's gonna be this awesom running back , think again hahahahah!

I don't think any of us expected to go undefeated but to lose a game like this is just unacceptable. These guys are supposed to be professionals, the best there is and there should not be drop offs like this, yet this team does this same thing every year, time and time again. It's maddening.

Ingram should've played against the Pats. That was the best blocking we've done run wise in a long while. Hopefully we can carry that portion over to buffalo at the dome ...

How many times have we been 3rd and short and been knocked back because our offensive line hasn't held up their end? So let's cut the guy some slack. Whenall other running backs start making 4.5 yards a carry and he doesn't, maybe I will think again but until then you'll not find me giving him a hard time.

Have you compared their career averages to that of Ingram? I don't want to be mean spirited, but I don't think people have paid much attention if they can't recognize the difference between Ingram and everyone else.

Ingram has no vision, and seemingly no will. I see some people really get their feelings hurt when someone like me questions his desire. They insist that I don't know him. Well hey, I don't claim to know how he is off the field. Maybe he's a great person. I'm not here to judge his moral character, and I don't care to either.

I speak only of what I see with my eyes. When he senses a play is breaking down, he just crumbles. The others fight for it. Even if it is just 1 yard. And eventually, if you keep fighting it will pay off. We ran the ball well yesterday when Payton finally decided to give it a try. I feel like we have a chance when Thomas, Sproles or Robinson get the ball. I don't feel that way when Ingram gets it.

It's year three of this project. There is zero room for excuses anymore. Rookies out play him annually on this team. I don't hate him, and all of the bleeding hearts need to stop confusing all forms of criticism with hatred. I simply am tired of his pathetic performance.

I say we rally behind him. Try and get him pumped up and ready to prove us right.

Bashing him seems to be out of fan frustration and accomplishes little.
