30 Rock: Marques Colston continues to be the ‘go to guy’ in Saints passing offense
New Orleans receiver Marques Colston reached a NFL milestone in 2013, he turned 30 June 5th.
North of the 30 mark usually spells doom for skill position players, but he signed a five-year, $40 million contract extension with the Saints in 2012 and has shown no indication of slowing down. He was drafted by the Saints in the seventh round of the 2006 NFL Draft and Colston holds the NFL record for most receptions in a player's first two seasons with 168. Colston is the Saints' all-time franchise leader in receiving touchdowns and total touchdowns (58) and he helped the Saints achieve victory in Super Bowl XLIV with 7 receptions for 83 yards. He also was one of the prototype wide receivers with considerable size, at 6’4, 225 pounds that are littered across the league. Colston will again be the main target for QB Drew Brees this upcoming season and he’s taking on a new role as the resident greybeard and mentor to the younger receivers. "These past seven years have flown by so fast," Colston said, via Katherine Terrell of NOLA.com. "But it's definitely a blessing to be in the situation at this moment." On being a leader for the receiving corps: "The best thing I can do for those guys is go out, work hard, and continue to try to improve my craft, just be a resource for those guys as this process unravels," he said after minicamp. "It's a whirlwind. If you make it through to this part, just learn as much as you can. That's what it's all about right now." 30 Rock: Marques Colston continues to be the |

Not good timing for that article, since he was the invisible man last game.

It is sad to watch these awesome players get older knowing their careers are shorter now: Harper, Vilma, Moore, Colston, Meachem, Strief, Evans, Greer, even Brees. This is an era that I do not want to end.

I think he's still injured. How often does a guy get old from one season to the next? To go from awesome one year to slow and washed up the next just doesn't make sense.

Colston doesnt look like he's running fully healthy on that injured foot which kept him out of practice and preseason for 2 months, maybe this bye week will do him some good
Boy what a difference meachem has made to our offense hey? How many has he caught so far? 1 or 2? |
