May not have to give him the keys, but at least give the kid a temp license plate and go test drive. You don't know how a car handles or how much power it has until then.

Its kind of a catch 22. If he's not ready his mistakes may cost us a game, which may cost us playoff seeding, but if he doesn't get significant reps we won't know how good he is.

I think bringing him along slowly is the proper way to evaluate and develop. A few more reps here and there is probably best.

The way the running game has been this season, his development should be plenty slow enough

Yes and no... If he has ball security down and there is no more than normal risk of a turnover, whats the worst he can do... Gain 3 YPC?

If he were a receiver I would agree 100% as just not knowing the routs can lead to an INT.. For a back, once the ball is in his hands and he knows how to keep it there, the worst is he hits the wrong hole and gains minimal yardage.

That said, there is another thing he needs be able to do besides ball security and prove him self... block on passing plays.
