The Saints held the Dallas Cowboys without a touchdown, Troy Aikman to 16 completions and Emmitt Smith to just 6 yards rushing in a 22-3 rout yesterday in New Orleans.

The victory kept the Saints, who lost seven of their previous nine games, alive in the National Football Conference playoff race. The Cowboys could have clinched the 25th playoff berth in their 39-year history with a victory. We didn't come in here thinking what we should be thinking, that we're just a decent team trying to get better, Cowboy guard Nate Newton said. They came in lit up, feeling good, looking good and left strutting like gamecocks.

Dallas, which scored 30 or more points in five of the first six games Troy Aikman played this season, converted just 4 of 14 third downs. There was no turning point, Smith said.
