Saints Vault: Cowboys December 07, 1998
Yes, they have vaults with SB treasures but we have a nice tricket of our own:
Saints Stop Cowboys Assoc Press December 07, 1998 The Saints held the Dallas Cowboys without a touchdown, Troy Aikman to 16 completions and Emmitt Smith to just 6 yards rushing in a 22-3 rout yesterday in New Orleans.
The victory kept the Saints, who lost seven of their previous nine games, alive in the National Football Conference playoff race. The Cowboys could have clinched the 25th playoff berth in their 39-year history with a victory. We didn't come in here thinking what we should be thinking, that we're just a decent team trying to get better, Cowboy guard Nate Newton said. They came in lit up, feeling good, looking good and left strutting like gamecocks. Dallas, which scored 30 or more points in five of the first six games Troy Aikman played this season, converted just 4 of 14 third downs. There was no turning point, Smith said. We led, 3-2, at one point, that's it. There were no positives. It was the first time Dallas failed to score a touchdown since Oct. 26, 1997, against Philadelphia. This is the best defensive game I've seen in a long time, Coach Mike Ditka said after the Saints held Dallas to 8 yards rushing. Smith, who has scored 123 career rushing touchdowns, one away from the career N.F.L. record, was held to 6 yards on 15 carries. It was his worst game with 10 or more rushes since he had 18 yards on 11 carries against the Giants in 1996. |

I remember this game, the Defense was amazing and it never stopped. ES was going for the record and he was denied by full frontal force. .4 yards a carry.

I was at the 28-0 beat down the Saints put on the Cowboys in Aikman's rookie year in the Superdome!

This is a sweet memory for Coach Ditka bring up at the ceremony when DA Bears honor Coach before a Cowboy / Bear game.
