Saints Work Out Kickers
|
Re: Saints Work Out Kickers
Yes!
Unfortunately we'll probably keep two K's on the roster instead of replacing Hartley. We'll lose a back-up somewhere. |
Re: Saints Work Out Kickers
Finally!!

Re: Saints Work Out Kickers
If you ask me, it's almost 2 years overdue.
They gave this kid 3rd and 4th chances, now we need to hire a big boy and not a choir boy. They're looking at a deep playoff run and how can anyone say they can depend on this kid to win some games, I have no clue! |

Re: Saints Work Out Kickers
I would hate it to come down to a field goal again for a chance to go to the superbowl and Hartley line up to kick, I really don't think my heart could take it.
He just is so sporatic. His on the road % is higher than at home, how does that happen in a Dome? |

His contract ends soon, so it's not like a huge cap loss to cut him (someone correct me if I'm wrong). Facts are - WE DON'T EVEN HAVE A REGULAR, STEADY KICKER!!! Much less a CHAMPIONSHIP kicker. What have you done for me lately is the motto of the NFL, and XLIV or not, this kid is going to KILL us in a close game and cost us HFA in the playoffs AGAIN!!! |

Sign Kickalicious!

Sign Rackers, its been 3 years to long that they have been hanging on to Shankalicious
|
Re: Saints Work Out Kickers
Add two more...
Ramon Antonio Vargas @RVargasAdvocate 27m the 5 kickers the #saints worked out today are John Potter, Brandon McManus, Shayne Graham, Neil Rackers and Derek Dimke, sources tell me. |
Re: Saints Work Out Kickers
His Adderall scrip expired.
Oh wait, he never had a scrip....... |
Re: Saints Work Out Kickers
I told you guys last week that that 55 yarder in the Jets game was his job. He misses, we never see him again. That's why coach didn't punt. He made so he got one more chance. He missed against the Cowboys, now he's toast.

Re: Saints Work Out Kickers
If we sign a kicker and still keep Frodo, I will be one sad panda. I think Rackers would be my preference with his 80% career FG percentage. He has lost a bit of leg strength, but if he's consistent between 30-45 yards, I'm all good.

Re: Saints Work Out Kickers
If only robbie gould fancied a change from windy chicago, that guy is automatic
|
Re: Saints Work Out Kickers
Didn't we go through this before when we had Hartley and Kasay on the same roster or was it Carney? Either way we need to cut him he's not worth a roster spot.
|
Re: Saints Work Out Kickers
Thank god
|
Re: Saints Work Out Kickers
Cutting Hartley accelerates $1.5M in dead money and we have $2.4M in cap space.
Hartley stays, we bring in a 2nd FG kicker and Chris Carr is cut again to make room. |

Re: Saints Work Out Kickers
Shayne Graham all the way. Not Neil Rackers please, he missed a 34 yard field goal in the wild card round against the Packers so he's a choke artist as well.
But Shayne Graham, I like. Goodbye Garrett Hartley, you were warned repeatedly not to choke, but you must go before you cost us more games. |

The salary cap in my mind isn't going to be hurt by cutting Hartley as much as a missed FG in the playoffs. I say take the hit and call it a day you guys need to stop being so fixated of this salary cap crap there is always ways to manipulate the cap move money or cut and resign plus a guy on injured reserve isn't entitled to full salary I don't know exactly how that works but there is a provision that states that someone on injured reserve gets lees than the money due |

Or when he set a Super Bowl record by kicking three 40 yd+ FGs. There has NEVER in the history of the NFL been a kicker that was 100% and there never will be. Hell, even Morton Anderson was known to shank a few. IMO, anytime a field goal is attempted, the offense has failed. |

Re: Saints Work Out Kickers
Well, I am now o the bash Hartley bandwagon. I would much rather have a kicker that can kick 100% 35 and under instead of 50% of 50+.

Re: Saints Work Out Kickers
I think this is just a motivation tactic. Example Hou kicker (forget his name) missed 2 important kicks.. houston brings in kickers to scare the dude. next week he makes a 45 yarder.. I don't see us cutting ties this late in the season.

Saints Workout Three Kickers

Hartley, a six-year veteran, is most known for his performance in the 2009 playoffs where he hit the game-winning field goal in overtime to beat Minnesota in the NFC championship game and three field goals in Super Bowl XLIV.

Re: Saints Workout Three Kickers
Good; if he folds, then it was time for him to geaux...
|
Re: Saints Work Out Kickers
He ain't goin anywhere. Hartley is going to stay. I agree this is a motivational tactic. Whatever Sean thinks I'm good with.
|
Re: Saints Workout Three Kickers
John Carney is only 49 he still runs the kicking clinic in San Diego.
|
Re: Saints Work Out Kickers
This motivational tactic has been used on Hartley before....I think Payton is for real now. Get rid of Fartley, this aint 2009 anymore. What have you done for me lately? MISS KICKS!
The Jets game would have been tied 26-26 if he would have made his kicks. |
