Yes because of necessity, not choice. Linebackers are typically there to stop the run, not cover tight ends unless there are third a long situations. Most teams don't have a guy like Chancellor to blanket tight ends so what choice do they have? What is a team suppose to do, we don't have any physical safeties so I guess we'll let Graham run free??

I don't, I think we would handle Denver.. I would love to see Welker, Decker and Thomas go against the legion of Boom. Denver already got a taste of them early this hear and they were manhandled by us. No amount of bias officiating is going to change that imo.

I agree with the #2 seed being almost as valuable as the #1 seed

I could live with this scenario. It's gonna be hard to get the #1 otherwise.

It is all wide open right now and the NFC looks tough regardless of who is in; that HFA is going to be huge in the NFC.

If you look at the league from just a statistical point of view the Saints have the 2nd ranked offense and the 4th ranked defense; the combination of a great offense and great defense is being overlooked, and no other team in the league has that combination.

I agree with this, after tonight, the direction of your season will be decided in the next couple weeks.

Anyone who says that either of these teams is bad looks rediculous. These are the two best teams in the NFC and not even sure its close. I've seen some dumb comments in this thread but I guess thats understandable considering its a Saints forum. I have also seen some really smart objective posts too which is nice after spending some time on the 49ers forum.

I have no problem with anyone thinking the Saints are better. I do think the vast majority of the board is under estimating the Seahawks and how good they are. They are 10-1 and played most of the year without 3-4 starters on the offensivle line. I also think Wilson is really going to shock people with how good he is. Just saw an NFL scount call him a top 4 QB in the NFL right now and I think he is right. Anyway I think homefield will be huge for the path to the Super Bowl. Seahawks have played better than the Saints on the road this year so it might be more important for you guys to get it.

I expect a very close game but the Seahawks are too tough at home. I do love the Saints though and what they are about. Good luck guys!

In fairness we haven't played the Saints since beast quake. We can speculate but nobody know what will happen until the teams play. The Hawks will put up points (imo) with a healthy mix of Lynch and pass but the outcome of this game in my opinion will be their run offense vs our run defense. They are not going to throw all over the place in my opinion, I think they will try to mix it up and control the clock. If they can't run on us they are cooked. Nobody has been able to just chuck it all over the field on us with our very physical secondary and our pass rush, which they will have to neutralize.

Felt like a 12th man takeover of this thread .. guess that would be falcon fans this year if they weren't losing.

Re: How I think rest of Season will play out.

Welcome Seahawks fans.... If you wish to have some fair discussion these are some points you may want to consider before posting.

1. You are not the only team with an injury report. You are also not the only team that gets players back once they are ready to play. So if you dont mind, we can dispense with (we are this good with x players hurt...) So are we.

2. "I feel"... Back it up with something more than just two words. Feelings are subjective and provide zero evidence of anything other than fanship. Empirical data, and Xs & Os are what we want to discuss.

3. You may see some "dumb comments".. Following that with a comparison between Wilson and Manning on a PvP is "dumb". Wilson is good because of Lynch, evidence is in the fact that your Passing Game is 24th in the league, your completion % is 8th and your over 100+ passing attempts behind the big boys. Your record is no more an indication of Wilson as a QB as Matt Ryans record was last year.

* If you think nicely framed derogatory statements fly over our heads because we are a bunch of Deep South coon-ases your may want to rethink that. Dont assume we are slow and we will not assume you hug trees and hump whales. Capisce?

So put the kool-aid down and lets talk ball. Lets talk match-ups.

A solution for Jimmy Graham is not someone the same height...
Lynch will be a hand full but if you go through our stats this season we have locked down some of the best RBs.
This is not the defense of 2009/2010/2011/2012... let that soak in for a while.

PS. The 12th man is a Texas A&M tradition. You pay a licensing fee to use it instead of trying maybe.. A little originality. <--see, that's proper smack talk. :bng:

Who exactly has TRIED to "chuck it all over the field" on you so far this year? Chad Henne? Ryan Fitzpatrick? Matt "Pick 6" Schaub? LOL. Your team has NOT been tested by an elite QB, at least not anyone I'd consider even remotely close to being elite in the passing game. Well, maybe Andrew Luck. He did a bit of chucking, 2 TDs, quite a few first downs, and a 2 point conversion to Reggie Wayne.

I know you're cocky, but when it comes to facing an elite QB like Brees, I think you will find that your defense is not gonna look the same, as it does when it's playing against the Christian Ponders or Kellen Clemenses of the world. You had your hands full with Luck, and that's not even nearly the same level as Brees.

We"ll beat Atlanta ... Seattle has yet to play an elite QB ... We play up to completion , it's the rams and Tampa that could mess up this entire seeding thing for us ... Seattle will drop 2-3 in a row ... I strongly believe well beat them , then San Francisco is coming off a 2 game losing streak and has them at home , then the giants are doing their back from the dead thing again and have Seattle at home ... Seattle might drop 3 in a row ... All we have to do is win the games were supposed to

Fair question, I would consider Luck an elite quarterback and he passed for 208 yards (at home). Would you be happy if Brees matched that?

What match ups against the Seahawks do you feel The Saints will exploit?

So the best QB you have faces is Luck and he had 208 yards?

How then do you account for.

Chad Henne dropped 214 on you in your house. Thats Jacksonville brother... Henne and Cecil Shorts put up 143... Now.. Lets talk about Graham and Brees again.

Look past the obvious brother... Its not the Lucks dropping 208.. Its the Schaubs and Hennes dropping 325,214.

We can't tell you that! We know that you are a spy.

Besides, the Seahawks will probably Blue Screen in the 4th Quarter.

I kid you not, Russell Wilson was out of the game in the middle of the 3rd quarter and our second string offense and Defense was in the rest of the game. We were up 24-0 at halftime. Total blowout. Russell Wilson scored to make it 31-0 opening drive and that was it; starters were all out of the game. We massacred them!!
Jacksonville Jaguars vs. Seattle Seahawks - Box Score - September 22, 2013 - ESPN

As for Schuab the Seahawks played an equivelant of 5 quarters against them and won with a little over 3:18 left. If you took his passing average for 4 quarter he has roughly 260 yards passing and his average is around 244 but after halftime he was shut down. The Seahawks were down 20-3 and came back and won the game and we did it WITHOUT three of our starting offensive lineman and the Texans had Brian Cushing.

I know it'll be a good game but be warned drew and Sean are much better in primetime. I'll be happy with a win whether its close or not.

As far as injuries not every team is affected equally. Seattle to be 10-1 without your whole offensive line actually is a big deal. Another obvious point that you over look.

What's your answer for Wilson? Lynch? Harvin? Tate? There is no obvious answer for Graham because he is incredible. Seattle has been very good against te's this year and shut down Vernon Davis. He's not a Graham but he's close. Don't fear your running game or the receivers on the outside. The Jets of all teams actually faired very well against you and I think we will too. You're suspect away from home losing to bad teams. Good luck at the Clink.

1. Don't talk to me about an injured suspect offensive line.
2. The same answer we had for Jackson, White, Ryan, Gonzalez, Douglas, Jones... The Falcons have a more impressive line up.

Its obvious you are well versed in Seattle but void of knowledge on your opponents.

Again with the "I think".... Ride that horse till she falls brother.. Ride it till she falls.

Finally. No VD is not close to Jimmy Graham. If you knew football you would know that close in some respects it still miles away.

You are going to have to double Jimmy. We will have to double no one.

See, I know some parts of your team quite well. I carry Lynch, Tate, your defense in Fantasy Football. I dropped Tate, he is unreliable and drops a lot.

Even then Lewis is a shut down corner.

Of course not. But to be fair, Brees hasn't thrown for anything close to that little in a game, since week 3 of 2009, four years ago, LOL. Matt Schaub, 355 YDS, 2 TD, against the Seahawks....that is a bit more realistic discussion of your pass defense.... and the only reason you got back in it was because Schaub gifted you with one of his patented pick 6's.....Keep in mind, Brees > Schaub by every statistical measure. Again -- this game will not be a pushover, like facing the Jaguars or Vikings.

Umm....Pro Football Focus begs to differ: Seahawks’ Golden Tate: Mr. Good Hands dares to be great | Jerry Brewer | The Seattle Times

According to that, he only has 5 career drops in 231 targets. He doesn't always get thrown to in a game (we spread the ball around A LOT) and as such he isn't the sexiest Fantasy Player, but drops are NOT an issue.

- Since the Saints will finish 11-5, I see them losing 3 more games, that is 1 to Carolina, 1 to Seattle, the other will be either at St Louis or home vs Tampa, reason we could drop one at home vs Tampa is resting starters once the #2 seed is locked up.

- Seattle will gain the #1 seed most likely with a 13-3 or even 14-2 record, but this is not the end of the world.

Why is it not the end of the world?....... Remember the game @ Seattle I say we will probably lose? I think come playoff time in the Divisional, we will beat whoever is there, lets face it, their is no one too impressive outside of Seattle/N.O. right now in the NFC, maybe even entire NFL. But we will go into Seattle in NFCCG and Win, its hard to beat an opponent twice in 1 season, call it dejavue for the 2010 season when we beat Seattle at home and lost to them on the road in the playoffs. Remember, Seattle is having some of those moments where they struggle vs some teams, remember Tampa Bay? They struggle vs any opponent in the playoffs like they did with TB and other teams like STL, those teams will take advantage of it and deal Seattle a big loss.

Dang I wish we did win the division, everything else was right almost.
