Re: The Hit on Brees
The funny thing is that if Brooks had hit Brees legally then we would have probably lost that game.

Re: The Hit on Brees
Rule 12 Player Conduct Section 2 Article 9 It is a foul if a player initiates unnecessary contact against a player who is in a defenseless posture. ...(b) Prohibited contact against a player who is in a defenseless posture is: (1) Forcibly hitting the defenseless player’s head or neck area with the helmet, facemask, forearm, or shoulder, regardless of whether the defensive player also uses his arms to tackle the defenseless player by encircling or grasping him.

Re: The Hit on Brees
He said he was going for the ball. BS. The ball was down so why hit that high and move your mass behind the player. I do think though if he hits mid section with all his force Brees gets hit much harder but I doubt he took any physics in college. Brees sheered a lot of the force . That doesn't happen if he gets hit in the mid section.

Re: The Hit on Brees
Niners play cheap and dirty.
They finally lost a game because of it. Now they're crying like a child. My hate for them continues to grow. |

Re: The Hit on Brees
Frisco is a physical dirty team that gets away with a lot of cheap hits. Brooks was trying to rip Drew's head off replay the tape, good call by the Ref's. As said in an earlier thread we are lucky Drew got up.

Re: The Hit on Brees
I can't wait to see what happens to the SF forum when he also gets fined

You can't go high or low on the QB. It's called every week and consistently in the NFL. It was the correct call. End of story.
|
Re: The Hit on Brees
He had a free shot at the mid section of Drew and he decided to clothesline him. If he hit Drew in the mid section he could have still cause the fumble. He made a poor choice in his hit and I hope he gets fined for it. SOOOOO glad we won that game I am out here in whiner country and it will feel even greater to walk around with my Saints stuff on.

Whiners are worse than the Failclowns!

Re: The Hit on Brees
There's probably nothing worse than fans of a team who don't know the rules, and then can't understand why their team lost, even when the rules are clearly explained to them.

Re: The Hit on Brees
Unfotrunately, Drew looked like a Pez dispenser on that hit!

The rule is clear- don't hit high. The fact that this guy says Brees ducked or is short is moronic |

i find it ironic that 40whiners are b.itching about bad calls.

Re: The Hit on Brees
Karma that's all it is. I remember during the playoff game two years ago when there was no flag call for the helmet to helmet hit that knocked PT out of the game.
|
Re: The Hit on Brees
You can't hit the QB in the helmet period.
Shoulder pads hit the helmet and there is another angle where you see helmet to helmet contact. Its the right call. |
Re: The Hit on Brees
Drew was bleeding from his mouth for christsakes!!!:brood:
|
Re: The Hit on Brees
Good call but I think our opinion as saints fans are kinda biased. I will take the win though!
|
Re: The Hit on Brees
To be honest, I would've been fine whether they threw the flag or not. The hit appeared to be borderline but violent therefore it got the flag. The refs owed us that one though because of the BS call they were getting ready to make on the kaepernick grounding play. Clearly that was grounding. Also, I thought the white fumble should've just been our ball out of bounds at the 1. When I looked at the replay, it never appeared the ball went through the endzone. Instead it went to the out of bounds line in the end zone.
At any rate, good win. |
Re: The Hit on Brees
It was absolutely the right call! I don't give a fork what Whiners fans think, Brooks went for the neck, it's blatantly obvious. What kills me is all the ANALysts who have been yapping onl all morning about how the 9ers "were ROBBED!1!1111111!!oneone" Shut the F up! Blame your pathetic squad for their own screw ups. The refs didn't drop that Frank Gore pass. The refs didn't throw that INT to Corey White. The Saints practically gift wrapped the game and San Fran still found a way to blow it.
|
Re: The Hit on Brees
Also, seeing Drew's neck snap back and forth like that had me raging. The Mr. had to calm me down because I was ready to hop the next flight to NOLA and stab Brooks in the face. Hahaha!

Re: The Hit on Brees
Man, both Tackles got a good whippin on this one.
|
Re: The Hit on Brees
And the way the ref called it was perfect. He said blow to the neck not helmet which means he saw it correctly as well.

Yeah ... SloMo definitely shows just how intentional this was on Brooks' part. I wonder just how big the fine from Rog will be.

The G force on his neck / cervical spine caused me to stop and pray. Drew's brain sloshed back and forth in that hit. This hit was dangerous and potentially paralyzing. breesfan, next time you have the urge to fly to a game to protect a player, call me because I have your back and I will join you. |
Re: The Hit on Brees
Something to take note of in the replay: he throws his arm AT Drew's neck/shoulder area first. Meaning, he was throwing it like he intended to hit whatever he could as hard as he could, outcome be damned.
Man, I've got no love loss for those cheap azz, dirty bastards. Or their coach. |

F you.... |
Re: The Hit on Brees
If you watch it in slow motion, it's clearly a clothesline AND he could have easily just pulled him down or hit him square in the ribs (and broke them if he wanted to) and it would have been legal. But no, he throws a clothesline forearm to his head.
Watch this in slow motion and take a different prespective from this angle and speed: http://i.imgur.com/ePjINOe.gif |
