Re: Ray Lewis willing to help Ahmad Brooks fine for his hit on Drew Brees
He coiled up and swung... That will get him a fine. The league will be looking at the 3 seconds before the hit.
Had he just inadvertently hit Drew it wouldn't have been a fine. |
Re: Ray Lewis willing to help Ahmad Brooks fine for his hit on Drew Brees
If this exact hit would have been to Peyton Manning's surgically repaired neck all we would hear from these idiots all week is them screaming that Brooks should be suspended.

Ray Lewis is a murderer. End of story.

Correct. Ray Lewis is indeed a murderer.

He was penalized in the game and according to the rules that was correct. The hit was high and the defensive players just can't do that, no matter how tall the QB is. Their gameplan for sacking the QB, if given the chance, should take into account what the QB size is to avoid this type of penalty. Hell, really the defense should really take into account who the QB is also, who will get the flag quicker a hit on Peyton Manning or a hit on Blaine Gabbert? |

First off in today's game and the mode of player safety, blows like this to the head or neck area that could have been prevented will and should be fined. Brooks could have hit Brees lower, he wasn't blocked at all and could have nailed Drew in the midsection but chose to swing his arm high. Second, it shouldn't matter who the QB is they should all benefit from the same calls. |

I agree it shouldn't matter who the QB is, the rules should be universal, but IMO the reality is QB's like Manning or Brady get the calls quicker (and a lot of the times they are always questionable). As far as being fined, was the swing from Brooks a blatant attempt to injure Brees? The hit was brutal and I never want to see Brees get hit like that, just not sure it was meliscious. |

Re: Ray Lewis willing to help Ahmad Brooks fine for his hit on Drew Brees
It was a classic clothesline tackle, which has been illegal since the day of Dick "Night Train" Lane. A player named Don Pellington for the Colts, once wrapped his arm in a plaster cast, with a steel rod in it, then put bandage padding over it so the refs couldn't see, and knocked a player unconscious by clotheslining him with it at a game in 1959. It's not like the refs are suddenly changing the rules or changing the way the game is played, this particular types of hit has been illegal for decades. That's right, decades.

Why is Brees's height of any significance?
It's not like it was a surprise... |
