How do you feel about Corey White Performance last night?

I'm alittle concerned. He was being abused by the rookie all night. He was playing way too deep in my opinion. He failed to make adjustments in the first half after being burned on the slant. I think he did better in the second half but I think the pressure we got on the QB was more of the reason than Corey.Whats your take on it?

You missed the 2nd half. He looked great in the 2nd half.

Re: How do you feel about Corey White Performance last night?

Starting with the last series of the first half when he started pressing, he had nearly perfect coverage from then on.

Not sure if that was his decision to press or if Rob Ryan had enough confidence in him to put him in that situation.

I'm not worried at all, I think we all know what he is capable of, we've all witnessed his coverage skills. They have a mini-bye week now to get it all figured out

Re: How do you feel about Corey White Performance last night?

Very hot and cold

He allowed a lot of catches in the first half, but took the receiver down before he got in the endzone which was good.

Rewatch the game, the scheme in the first half had corey playing atleast 5-10 yards off everytime, as soon as RR made corey play press coverage he improved

I wouldnt be too concerned at the minute, theres bound to be some growing pains when your thrown into the starting spot in your second year

And thrown into a spot you haven't played much. He has played mostly nickel and dime. There's probably a slight adjustment period in the transition for such a young player who was pretty raw to begin with.

How so? Did pressure cause him to play 10 yards off in the 1st half?

Re: How do you feel about Corey White Performance last night?

It was discouraging, but I think it is a question of matchups from week-to-week. I can see White struggling against small quick receivers but playing much better against the bigger guys where he can draw them into the physical battles.

Im actually pretty excited about the kid, the more reps he gets the better he will get. Corey has huge upside and a ton of talent.

Re: How do you feel about Corey White Performance last night?

He was playing way off, and ATL was definitely going at him. Good offensive game plan to run quick routes when he was off the line.
He does not yet have the experience to know when to adjust, but soon will know where to be

Danno I'm not going to argue with you. I've learned from your M.Ingram defense you have guys you love and will defend them as they do no wrong.

You can't deny he was getting beat by his man time and time again to the point he was taken off the field.

He was taken off the field because he tweaked a knee, but was right back out there the next series

He was taken out before he tweaked the knee.

In the 2nd half when he started to play press coverage he was a different player. He's a physical corner, he needs to play press coverage and thats what he did in the 2nd half.

Re: How do you feel about Corey White Performance last night?

I look at it this way. It was White's first start as the #2 CB in his home town in prime time against a rookie WR that there is little film on. I'm sure he was a tad nervous. Once he settled down , he was fine in the 2nd half.

Um no, he fell down on a play when he tweaked a knee. And Sweeting filled in for him... He played every defensive snap until then and then finished the game playing every snap

I think you might wanna watch the game again Mitch cause he tweaked the knee later in the game. He was taken out in the 1st Quarter for a few plays

You need to rewatch the game, because he tweaked the knee in the first half... and who really gives a ****, unless you can change the depth chart why worry about White?

Doesn't make sense to worry about stuff you can't change

The 2nd to last final Falcon offensive series of the first half is when he tweaked the knee...

Re: How do you feel about Corey White Performance last night?

Hey. I think he did okay. I haven't looked at individual stats, but I think once all things are considered we'd have to say he was okay.

Collectively we held them to 1 TD and couple field goals. I'm not willing to single him out before he's had a fair shot starting a few games.

In other words I think he did okay and I think it's too early to pass any meaningful judgement on the guy.

Who cares if they took him off the field for a couple of plays. He was in there when the game was on the line.

Well keep worrying about whether he was taken out or not or if he's not good enough or whatever... I'm going to enjoy watching him play understanding that there will be some growing pains. I'll trust Rob Ryan in his decision to play him, he definitely knows more about the defense then you or any of us

Re: How do you feel about Corey White Performance last night?

This thread is about White's performance while on the field, so can you guys please try to stay on track with that?

Weather he was pulled for a few snaps, or he was down with a tweaked knee doesn't matter. The fact of the matter is that he needed to make a few adjustments considering how they were attacking the left side of the field with slants and inside crossing routes repeatedly.
Last week we saw Corey white zoom in and pick off a slant route which could/should have resulted in a pick six. he learned a great lesson there. Yes, he made a huge mistake, but he certainly learned from it. Remember folks, we learn from failure- not success.
Without Julio jones, the falcons still have a great core of receivers, not to mention Gonzalez. I think Corey white did a fantastic job taking in the adjustments and playing hard nosed afterwards.
He laid a great hit on Steven Jackson, along with Harper. So with that said, I strongly agree that Corey white is more of a physical corner and he thrives in physically demanding situations. He's put out a lot of big hits this season in his limited role- the first thing that caught by eye about White was his ability to hit like a linebacker on-the-go.

Your right no need getting in a pissing match about it.
Sorry Mitch

That's why I made the thread wanted a feel about how everyone thought about how he did

he started pressing, at 6'1" 205, he's a damn good press man corner. And hits like Harper with more speed

Re: How do you feel about Corey White Performance last night?

Considering that the Falcons have no deep threat, it is odd that RR would have had White playing that far off the line. The Saints were giving Ryan the inside slant with no LB/DE support under. So, some of this can't be blamed on White. Once RR adjusted the D the short passing game dried up.

As to pressure, taking away the short passing game forced Ryan to hold the ball longer giving the DL time to get to the QB.

One last note, White is young and learning. Greer is nearing the end of his career. Let's not forget that Greer has looked as bad or worse that CW's first half not too many games back.

CW will improve.

Brother the Falcons have a deep threat. He goes by Harry Douglas..

Douglas is 3rd in the league for 40+ yarders, and 11th for 20+..
