I'd like for them to add another impact CB, since Robinson probably missed his last chance to prove his worth due to the season ending injury. But I don't know if they're looking that great at safety, because the only safeties they have under contract for next season are Harper and Vaccaro. Harper will have a $5.9M cap hit next season, which carries $3.7M of dead money, so it'll be a toss up whether to release him or keep him (apart from trading of course). Jenkins will be an UFA, while both Bush and Abdul-Quddus will be RFAs. Bringing in another starter caliber safety to pair up with Vaccaro sounds like a very good alternative if the right player will be available for the Saints (i.e. someone like Harrison Smith from the Vikes as far as the skill-set goes). |
Re: What position would you like to see the Saints go for in the draft?
I think we need to start refilling the OL, as Bree's gets older the more dominate our line is the better the run game can be and take pressure off of him
|
Re: What position would you like to see the Saints go for in the draft?
Round 1 - OL
Round 2 - CB Round 3 - OL Round 4 - CB Round 5 - Best defensive player available Round 6 - Best offensive player available |
Re: What position would you like to see the Saints go for in the draft?
Austin Wentworth, OT/OG Fresno State
6046 305 5.18/5.05 nice project player for sure. OLB Telvin Smith, Florida State i pause because he is a light weights and wonder how his aggressive styles will do at nfl level. i see IR if they do not change nis ways. then what happens to his game from the change? Howard Jones, OLB/DE Shepherd 6016 235 4.54/4.45 Not a bad prospect at all i am still looking into him. i am hoping we get some good coverage LB in the draft that can run. CB Stanley Jean-Baptiste, Nebraska now here is my number 1 "what if" type of player. lets see what the combine beauty trials show. maybe safety is were he needs to be. but if you want INT's he is your man. question is are you willing to invest the 2 to 3 years to develop the kid? another corey white treatment. he could pay off big time but what are the odds? i think pretty good |

i am guessing here but the OL and CB are top priority. i could live with it |
Re: What position would you like to see the Saints go for in the draft?
I'm thinking LB in 2nd round, like Kiko Alonso. He was a huge steal for the Bills. And i'm not saying it's a coincidence or anything but Rickey Jackson was also picked in the 2nd round

Re: What position would you like to see the Saints go for in the draft?
Teams with a weak secondary get cut up like chumps. Look at what Alex Smith, of all people, did to the Chargers today ( despite the loss), look at Denver, and then look at how better teams shut down the pass. You can never have too much D imo.
O weapons are good atm. |
Re: What position would you like to see the Saints go for in the draft?
Corner - Who knows if Greer will be able to come back. I like the guy from TCU - Verrett. He is the kind of guy who can play in the slot and cover the quick shifty guys. Lewis/White/Robinson are all upright physical corners and that's great, but we need a Greer-type player if he's not going to be around.
Outside/rush linebacker - What if we had one of those superstud 6-6 rush linebackers with speed? this defense would be downright dominant with a guy like that to line up with Galette and Jordan on the pass rush. Guard - this is a spot where you can get a good player who is almost guaranteed to be productive in the 4th round or so. I love that Jackson kid from Miss. St. Reminds me a ton of Carl Nicks. Wide receiver - Maybe Toon pans out, but we don't know. Another Colston type would be nice. Left tackle - pile 'em up, hope one pans out. It seems to me Brown is not the long-term guy here. Armstead might be, but it would be good to have another young guy with talent in case he's not. DT/3-4 end - Somebody who can provide depth. We have good players here now but if you want to continue having dominant d-lines every year you have to constantly be bringing in new hungry guys and grooming them to be starters. |

I like Verrett as well, but he may be off the board by the time our first round pick rolls around. The CB I've got my eye on is Darqueze Dennard from Michigan State. He's a straight up stud. He's more of the physical type, like Corey White is, but imo he can cover the quick/shifty guys as well. He was lockdown against Jeremy Gallon (WR for Michigan Wolverines) who is a very good player. Agree with what you said on that type of LBer. That's exactly why I mentioned Adrian Hubbard earlier in this thread. I don't know much about OLinemen, so I can't really comment on that. Yeah. Adding another Colston-type WR would be marvelous. Nick Toon could be that guy if he learns how to stop having stone hands, but if he doesn't pan out, picking up a WR would be nice. Has Brown really been that bad this year? Idk, maybe I'm not paying enough attention, but thinking about it now, it doesn't seem like a lot of defenders are pressuring Brees from Brown's side of the field. |

Picking at #32 it is difficult to pinpoint which players will even be available. If someone like Cyrus Kouandjio is available it is a no brainer. |

lets see who falls this year. Cyrus Kouandjio? would be sweet. i always assume the media darlings go off the board by pick 25. i usually works that way. |
Re: What position would you like to see the Saints go for in the draft?
O line, receiver, Linebacker and CB
|
Re: What position would you like to see the Saints go for in the draft?
I think we need to ask Jahari to take a pay cut, we are paying him way to much money to be injured and inconsistent. That might help bring in a CB in free agency, there is lots of decent CB's taking low money like DRC. Guys like Brandon Browner, Tim Jennings, and P-nut Tillman are all in contract years.
|
Re: What position would you like to see the Saints go for in the draft?
As long as it's the 32nd pick, OL.
|
Re: What position would you like to see the Saints go for in the draft?
LB, CB
I would love to pair Galette with and speed rushing stud on the other side. If not, I'd love to find our very own Luke Kuechly. We really haven't had a franchise MLB type for a very long time. CB for obviously reasons with our second pick. Quality OL are a dime a dozen in the mid rounds. We've always had success drafting and developing them there. |
Re: What position would you like to see the Saints go for in the draft?
Wouldn't mind adding a solid punt/kick returner to the 2014 arsenal either.

Ty Montgomery WR/KR Stanford 6015 215 4.52/4.42 Sure handed, extremely quick, good top end speed and the best part is he built to take on tacklers. I do not think the kid gets the respect he deserves. I will be shocked if he makes it to day 3. If he does he wont be there long. if the third round comes and he is on the board in round 3 you have to think long and hard about passing on the kid. heck second round even maybe. that how talented i think the kid is. here is the funny part most sites have him going undrafted. i swear the media stashes talent for the combine so they have some thing to hype. Scary De'Anthony Thomas Oregon some one is going to spend a high draft choice on him Late round steal? Corey Brown WR/KR Ohio State 5104 190 4.35/4.25 others worth looking at Andre Debose – Florida Dri Archer, Kent State Marcus Murhpy, Missouri Justin Gilbert, Oregon State Tramaine Thompson, Kansas State |
Re: What position would you like to see the Saints go for in the draft?
Dont agree about the QB thing. We have a guy we can groom. Maybe next year he will be number 2. OL=OT/ C and CB. LB,WR. Lastly Try and get some real speed we can use for punt and kickoff returns no matter which side of the ball he plays on. Think this guy has to be the priority after the OL needs to have really good ball skills.

Re: What position would you like to see the Saints go for in the draft?
Did not see Hagans post only got through the post about a QB pick before I posted could'n't agree more with Hagan
|
Re: What position would you like to see the Saints go for in the draft?
I don't think we would need a WR, with Toon and Stills quite young and Morgan coming back.
|
Re: What position would you like to see the Saints go for in the draft?
not that WR is an area of major need but Colston is getting to the point where you know he is going to miss at least 2 games. Moore aint getting any young and plus this morgan second stint on IR in three years, if i am not mistaken.
So if you can add a player like Ty Montgomery in the middle of a draft you have to think about. He’s got a pro body and impacts the game in multiple facets. plus with salary cap issues you can replace a few players even a NFL min with cheaper options through the draft. if you draft a player like Ty his pick can effect more than one player on the team and open up a spot for adding more depth else where |
Re: What position would you like to see the Saints go for in the draft?
I think SP has hand picked his pet QB project last year. To save our third string QB on the PS none the less, we let a player go that has starting experience and i would say some solid upside we never got to see.
I think SP has made his pick for a pet project already |
Re: What position would you like to see the Saints go for in the draft?
CB, OL, LB, RB
I think we need to start looking for another RB. Thomas is getting older, I'm not at all sold on Ingram, Sproles is a scat-back and Robinson is very unproven. |

Re: What position would you like to see the Saints go for in the draft?
I feel Robinson and Cadet just haven't had much of a chance. We need to let Cadet handle all our returns as of now and not stress out Sproles. Do think that Robinson will continue to grow in this system and will be a good one. RB is low on my list. Look what we gave up for Ingram he is doing better but still not lived up to his lofty draft status as of yet but I hope the trend continues. Maybe a diamond in the rough will fall in our lap and the competition would be on with T-Rob. Uless there is a bad injury and or if Ingram leaves not a high priority. We have 5 most keep about three. otherwise we all mostly agree on our future needs.

Re: What position would you like to see the Saints go for in the draft?
with the cap situation the way it is it will interesting to see what happen, how creative will drew restucture be? right now if and i am stressing if the saints did move Ingram he has some solid selling points this year. last few games have been solid and he has one year left on his contract.

Re: What position would you like to see the Saints go for in the draft?
we need a fan draft, to send off disloyal fairweather fans to atlanta and take in those loyal to America's real team.
LSU fans would be screwed if such a thing existed in college sports. |
