But I don't know if they're looking that great at safety, because the only safeties they have under contract for next season are Harper and Vaccaro. Harper will have a $5.9M cap hit next season, which carries $3.7M of dead money, so it'll be a toss up whether to release him or keep him (apart from trading of course). Jenkins will be an UFA, while both Bush and Abdul-Quddus will be RFAs. Bringing in another starter caliber safety to pair up with Vaccaro sounds like a very good alternative if the right player will be available for the Saints (i.e. someone like Harrison Smith from the Vikes as far as the skill-set goes). |

I think we need to start refilling the OL, as Bree's gets older the more dominate our line is the better the run game can be and take pressure off of him

Austin Wentworth, OT/OG Fresno State
6046 305 5.18/5.05 nice project player for sure. OLB Telvin Smith, Florida State i pause because he is a light weights and wonder how his aggressive styles will do at nfl level. i see IR if they do not change nis ways. then what happens to his game from the change? Howard Jones, OLB/DE Shepherd 6016 235 4.54/4.45 Not a bad prospect at all i am still looking into him. i am hoping we get some good coverage LB in the draft that can run. CB Stanley Jean-Baptiste, Nebraska now here is my number 1 "what if" type of player. lets see what the combine beauty trials show. maybe safety is were he needs to be. but if you want INT's he is your man. question is are you willing to invest the 2 to 3 years to develop the kid? another corey white treatment. he could pay off big time but what are the odds? i think pretty good |

I'm thinking LB in 2nd round, like Kiko Alonso. He was a huge steal for the Bills. And i'm not saying it's a coincidence or anything but Rickey Jackson was also picked in the 2nd round

Teams with a weak secondary get cut up like chumps. Look at what Alex Smith, of all people, did to the Chargers today ( despite the loss), look at Denver, and then look at how better teams shut down the pass. You can never have too much D imo.

Re: What position would you like to see the Saints go for in the draft?
Corner - Who knows if Greer will be able to come back. I like the guy from TCU - Verrett. He is the kind of guy who can play in the slot and cover the quick shifty guys. Lewis/White/Robinson are all upright physical corners and that's great, but we need a Greer-type player if he's not going to be around.
Outside/rush linebacker - What if we had one of those superstud 6-6 rush linebackers with speed? this defense would be downright dominant with a guy like that to line up with Galette and Jordan on the pass rush. Guard - this is a spot where you can get a good player who is almost guaranteed to be productive in the 4th round or so. I love that Jackson kid from Miss. St. Reminds me a ton of Carl Nicks. Wide receiver - Maybe Toon pans out, but we don't know. Another Colston type would be nice. Left tackle - pile 'em up, hope one pans out. It seems to me Brown is not the long-term guy here. Armstead might be, but it would be good to have another young guy with talent in case he's not. DT/3-4 end - Somebody who can provide depth. We have good players here now but if you want to continue having dominant d-lines every year you have to constantly be bringing in new hungry guys and grooming them to be starters. |

He's more of the physical type, like Corey White is, but imo he can cover the quick/shifty guys as well. He was lockdown against Jeremy Gallon (WR for Michigan Wolverines) who is a very good player. Agree with what you said on that type of LBer. That's exactly why I mentioned Adrian Hubbard earlier in this thread. I don't know much about OLinemen, so I can't really comment on that. Yeah. Adding another Colston-type WR would be marvelous. Nick Toon could be that guy if he learns how to stop having stone hands, but if he doesn't pan out, picking up a WR would be nice. Has Brown really been that bad this year? Idk, maybe I'm not paying enough attention, but thinking about it now, it doesn't seem like a lot of defenders are pressuring Brees from Brown's side of the field. |

Can we pick up a SB ring along the way?
