PT is on a roll now and running hard. Throw Sproles in there and keep them off balance. Need to script a lot of plays this week and avoid confusion on the line. I think this is going to huge and will take the crowd out of it if we can get up on them and start shutting them down. Very critical we contain Wilson much like we did with Kaperdick.

Re: Running attack vs. Seahawks defense. Thoughts?
It doesn't sound like passing friendly weather so I hope the running game is very apparent that day.

Re: Running attack vs. Seahawks defense. Thoughts?
I'll take 5 wide and short passes over the running game
Why, oh why, does every analyst start every game with _________ has to be able to run. ___________ has to establish a running game. We were 5-0 before we found anything resemling a running game Go with your strengths: pass blocking and the ball in Brees' hands to answer the OP question, I don't think we will run well against them, and hope we don't spend too long learning that. It would be nice to score on the opening drive once in awhile |

I think we can run on that team, unless they're sitting on it. But I think they'll be expecting us to come out running. Might have to stick with the short passing game early.

Either way, doesn't matter. Drew will either use the run to set up the pass or vice-versa. Their best bet would be to consistently stop the run with a 4 man front and drop everyone else in coverage, but then they'll have to worry about screens.

Re: Running attack vs. Seahawks defense. Thoughts?
It doesn't have to be a lot, just enough to fully unpack the offense and open up the playbook. I remember we beat the Steelers in '10 with something like 29 yards total rushing; it wasn't about smashing them up the gut, it was about moving certain pieces around on the chess board, using the run and the short pass to move players around and open up other things for Drew to exploit. And that Steeler defense that year was MUCH better than this Seahawks defense this year.

Re: Running attack vs. Seahawks defense. Thoughts?
I'm saying it just misses 100 rushing. The Seahawks with their CB woes will play nickel and have more CBs on the field. Put a 3 receiver look with Jimmy and run draws and screens. This will get lineman and TEs on the CBs and take a little pep out of their step and bring the safety's up which I think could open some deep balls. Also, Sherman is outstanding but he really pushes for the big plays and with productive runs and screens he might eyeball the backfield just long enough to gets Stills behind him.

Re: Running attack vs. Seahawks defense. Thoughts?
I said at the beginning of the season that if we could keep PT in the backfield for a large majority of the snaps that it would help our running game a lot. It leaves the other teams guessing what we are going to do. I think we have sort of seen that with Sproles being out.

Re: Running attack vs. Seahawks defense. Thoughts?
I fully expect that. Maxwell can play the Slot or be a CB but now that he has taken over for Thurmond, I expect to see a healthy dose of Sproles. Do you guys have a speed burner who beats teams deep?
