it was the greatest Saints moment of the 20th century. Thanks to SP and DB for giving us more to boast of in the 21st.

Really? I can definitely see it if the next Morten Andersen is out there.

We spent 2 picks on a punter, why do you think we wouldn't spend a pick on a kicker?

1. Chandler Catanzaro, Clemson
Height: 6-2
Weight: 200
This guy is my favorite, he is clutch! 12-13 this year and the only one he missed was more than 50 yards. Last year he was 18-19 and had 2 clutch field goals for game winners vs LSU. This guy is extremely over-looked and we could most likely get him with our pick in the 6th round.

2. Cairo Santos, Tulane
Height: 5-8
Weight: 160
If we don't get Catanzaro I think we need Santos. He was 14-20 this year, 4 of those misses came from over 50 yards so you can't really blame him (He was 2-6 on 50+) The kid doesn't have much of a boot but is very solid. I'm sure some teams will pass on him because of his size, but who cares, he's a kicker. I expect him to fall into the 7th round, so we could trade down if we wanted to.

3. Chris Boswell, Rice
Height: 6-2
Weight: 210
This guy is a major wild card, he started off his Senior season missing his first 3. However, the guy jumped out of his slump and shined, he made 13-18, 3 misses from 50+. In 2012 he made 6, that's right 6 FG from 50+ and missed 2. This guy has power, but he gets hot and cold.

4. Everyone else
There are some people who stand out more than others, but in all I think Hartley would be a better option over any of the others. They will most likely all be available in free agency so we could bring in 1 or 2 but I just don't see one taking Hartley's roster spot.

Do you guys think we need a new kicker? If I see Hartley on the streets i'll buy him a beer to thank him for a superbowl win, but I just don't think he is a viable option anymore.

And when the Saints sign a new kicker and HE misses a FG, there will be another thread calling for the Saints to replace him.

Don't know how you can say he doesn't have much of a boot when his career long is 57 yards and hit a 56 yarder this year. He didn't miss a kick in 2012 and missed only 2 this year between 30 and 50. If he is a UDFA I would like to see him brought in to compete against Hartley.

If you guys think drafting a kicker in the 6th round is stupid then look back to 1979 when the Saints drafted Russel Erxleben 11th overall. A huge draft bust, only lasted 5 years in the league.

Kickers are streaky. If you have a decent one, and we do, no sense in spending the time and effort to find another one. He'll have his ups & downs as well so unless the decent kicker you have dies, theres no sense in running down another one to replace him.

By "streaky" and "decent", you mean 7th worst in the league?
81% of the kickers in the league being more accurate than he is?

A good kicker is worth his weight in gold. We have a defense now that can keep a game close (usually) which makes a good kicker even more valuable. There are wasted draft picks every year so why not?

We do not call for the replacement of a kicker after he misses A kick... We do when he is progressively getting worse and ends up in the bottom 25 % of the league on accuracy and we are about to head into the playoffs.
