The Perfect Nickname for The Defense

For the record:

The group of Olsen, Deacon Jones, Grier, and <don't remember his name> was dubbed The Fearsome Foursome, which BTW, weren't the original Fearsome Foursome.

The original "Monsters of the Midway" played in the 1940's. It is a nickname that resurfaces every now and then when the Bears have a good defense.

Gang Green is the nickname of the entire Jets team, not just the defense or a defensive unit, and it was originally a derogatory nickname (I guess it still is, but with a kind of tone of endearment to it)

The Hogs was the nickname of the Redskins offensive line, not the defense.

And finally, who the heck gave the Pat's defense the nickname Homeland Defense? Should be taken to the back of the shed and shot (someone go grab Peter King).

Names are stupid and usually are coined by the media in order to get ratings.

That said how about

Dallas owner Jerry Jones probably fire himself after RR turn around the worst defense to the top 10 and Dallas fall to 32 rank defense (worst )

I bet if you really researched it out in detail most of those classic defense names were given to them by the media/sports writers and not by fans.
