Re: I am almost done with Payton
This is the consequence of expectations. We expect certain things because we have won so many games since 2006. But when you think about it, what is really so glaringly different. We handled our toughest division foe(this year it's Carolina) at home and lost on the last drive at their house. And we destroyed them at home. Doesn't this usually happen with Atlanta. Yeah we dropped a couple of clunkers in St. Louis and New York, but we ALWAYS have trouble in St.Louis and just had a bad game in New York. We played New England tight and Seattle well Seattle no one plays well. That was Seattle's superbowl. Primetime game at home they whipped us just like we always do to everyone. We have some major work to do.
Now with that being said, there are some major concerns. The playcalling is predictable. The O line is horrible, and I mean horrible. It is the worse line in years, and if we didn't have Brees we would be a .500 team. The Defense is their job, yes they broke at the end but we should have never been in that position. If we would have had any offense in the 3rd quarter we would have won. Carolina gave us that game on a silver platter. Our offense did not get going until we were forced to run the ball more with the weather. Losing Vaccarro will hurt bad. I think we should turn running game over to Ingram and Robinson and commit to smash running. They have figured the screen and misdirection plays out and we had more luck running right up the gut. And it wouldn't surprise at all if Atlanta would beat Carolina. Without Steve Smith Cam looked a little lost and it wouldn't surprise me if Atlanta has anything left that they would win. I mean we lost to the Rams. You just never know, but definitely SP needs to stop being stubborn, lose the pride and admit that defenses have figured out our offense. It happens. Change it up. We aren't out yet. |

Re: I am almost done with Payton
In my opinion the Offensive line has become our Achilles Heel. SP is calling screens to break the rush, Drew has been hammered this year like mad. Most teams are not giving us the time to burn them long. Can probably guess what is on the shopping list this year.

Re: I am almost done with Payton
We've got an awesome qb, a gazillion rb's, and nobody to block for them. Malcom should've made the play on the last TD, the right play call was there.

I'm not. Man knows what he's doing. Remember it was loomis who gave Brees that contract and sold our oline for it. What did piss me off though is that after the game he was going on and on about how well they played and that they did a really good job and if they continue playing like that they will be fine. Pisses me off how he didn't hold anyone accountable and was talking like we won the game.

Well he might be looking long term. I dont think anyone is afraid of the panthers in the playoffs. In fact Im sure many teams are happy they might be in. SP's head might already be in the playoffs, and thinking about what is needed.
I dont understand the optimism either. Our offense really looks bad. Which is really disapointing because we might have a good D for the 1st time. |

Re: I am almost done with Payton
When Payton first showed up in 2006, he built this team around the offense, which was built around Brees. The second most important thing he set in place was the O- line to protect Brees. We've had a fine O line for years which gave us a consistant and productive offense up until the offseason when Brees wanted his payload. We lost Nicks and Kromer the following year and replaced them with mediocre linemen and a new o line coach. The only good offensive game we've had were when the O line did their job. Its not hard to see where our weakness is this year. If you fix the O line, our offense will be dominant again. I just dont get why Payton knowing that, let the O line get to this point.

Re: I am almost done with Payton
I feel about Sean Payton the same way I feel about my wife. I love him, almost unconditionally, but about 50% of the time I want to kill him and bury him in my backyard.

Re: I am almost done with Payton
Interesting... I wonder how many people remember what this organization looked like Pre-Payton & Brees? I'd watch what you ask for...
