Re: Mock Draft Simulator

Ok, gave it a go again on Fanspeak.com. The only knock i have on these mocks, they can be far-fetched, but im Very satisfied with these drafts. very unrealistic, but as always, we can dream big lol.

Performed two mocks, with what the board gave me based on a mix of need and BPA. Both mocks presented a scenario where i could take a top QB in the 4th that sean would love & groom behind drew. i acknowledge that most of these selections are HIGHLY unlikely but would be celebrated greatly on our ends.

First mock:

27 ILB C.J. MOSLEY - ALABAMA
(Dream scenario like the rest of the selections... CJ falls to us and becomes our kuechly/Kiko. Fills an area of need i believe is way more important than OLB. Lofton & hawthorne is not something im thrilled about.)

58 WR ALLEN ROBINSON - PENN STATE
(great value & pick grabbing a 1st round talent late in the 2nd to become a big time player & star in our offense for years to come. One of my Favorite players in the draft)

91 WR CODY LATIMER - INDIANA
(what can i say? Ditto that of A-Rob. We Add another 6'3 WR with huge upside & star potential. Pairing him & A-Rob on the outside and kenny in the slot would be huge)

126 QB AARON MURRAY - GEORGIA
(If Murray or any top QB falls this far theres no way i see Sean passing up a new toy. Adding Murray to develop with the wr selections is a no brainer as well.)

167 CB WALT AIKENS - LIBERTY
(Solid pick in the 5th to learn behind keenan and champ... The fact that he doesnt need to step in right away makes this pick all the better)

169 C BRYAN STORK - FLORIDA STATE
(Get a center to battle it out with lelito and any other FA we bring in)

202 OLB HOWARD JONES - SHEPHERD
("Could" maybe go undrafted and be a priority FA, being from Shepherd, but why let that happen when we can get value late in the 6th. Kind of like a Rufus Johnson type scenario, but more talented imo)

2nd Mock Draft:

1st. Darqueze Dennard - Michigan St.
(If he falls, easy choice. Physical press corner with good 4.5 speed)

2nd. Allen Robinson - Penn St.
(Ditto to mock 1)

3rd. Christian Jones - Florida St.
(Would love to grab jones here, but dont see him falling out of the 2nd. My #2 ranked mlb..easy choice)

4th. AJ Mccarron - Alabama
(Ditto that of Murray in mock 1)

5th A. Devonta Freeman - Florida St.
(Not necessarily a sproles replacement but can do everything he did but with more power. Cadet is not the answer imo, not a fan)

5th B. Russell Bodine - North Carolina
(Great value in the 5th to shore up depth at center & potentially win the job & perform at a high level. Saints are no strangers to landing studs late as we all know. Could be a career backup but theres upside there)

6th. L'damian Washington - Mizzou
(Saints obviously showed interest visiting with him. at 6'4 with some speed too much talent to pass up if he falls to the 6th. Could afford to add weight though.)

Like i said, highly unrealistic... But fun. Haha can you imagine the shock...

You are not the only one not impressed after last years first round.

Re: Mock Draft Simulator

New mock using Ourlads rankings. Felt more realistic.

27. BRANDIN COOKS - WR - OREGON STATE

58. WESTON RICHBURG - C - COLORADO STATE

91. STANLEY JEAN-BAPTISTE - CB - NEBRASKA

126. DAVANTE ADAMS - WR - FRESNO STATE

167. YAWIN SMALLWOOD - ILB - CONNECTICUT

169. DRI ARCHER - RB - KENT STATE

202. HOWARD JONES - OLB - SHEPHERD

- Surprised Davante Adams was there in the 4th, so had to grab him.

really...... the word for this draft is unrealistic.... every GM within a 10 mile radius of the draft must have fell asleep for two rounds.....

Davante in the fourth is not at all realistic...he wont fall out of the 2nd. But thats ok...these things are pretty far-fetched, just like mine and most others.

When I'm running the draft sim, and that happens, I ignore the player; Marcus Martin has been there several times in the fourth round, and that's not gonna happen...

CJ Mosley still falls to No. 27, and that's not gonna happen, and if it does, I'm gonna squeeze the throat of my scouts to find out what we missed that other teams kneaux...

Re: Mock Draft Simulator

Drew would be dancing in the street if this happened

27 OT ZACK MARTIN NOTRE DAME
Ok the gods smile on the saints and most QBs fall. Drew gets a player that can start at any position on the OL from day one. Why wouldn't he be giddy?

58 S DEONE BUCANNON WASHINGTON STATE
I honestly do think he will be here. he is my #1 safety still and top 5 DB in the draft. if he is he is hands down the best secondary player left in the draft. thats all i can say. steal. I could live with the pick in the first.
*see notation below*

91 RB CHARLES SIMS WVU 6006 215 4.48
Here is the safety net if Ingram fails to live up to his end of the bargain. I still say he is among the elite backs that will have a major impact in the NFL. Runs inside and outside. Probably the best back receiving and picking up the blitz. He has saints rB written all over him. he is PT replacement and will step up if or when Ingram is done. he is a bit taller than PT and a bit faster (4.62) but both are the same style of runner.

126 WR KEVIN NORWOOD ALABAMA
Drew gets a WR that is very comfortable working out of the slot as well as outside. A slot WR that is 6020? thats a huge change. works the middle of the field extremely well as well as side lines. Ignore the ranking here no expected him to run a sub 4.5. Versatile and knows how to go after the ball with a huge catch radius (32" arms). cone drill 6.68 shows he has great change of direction skills. Good hands and concentration I would not be surprised to go earlier but the depth this year might let us get a solid steal. 2nd or 3rd round in any other year.

167 C TYLER LARSEN UTAH STATE
6035 315
If he is there is the 5th i would take him in a heart beat. blue collar lunch pail toting wild man. he does nothing to blow you away but he is solid and non stop. He is the type of player that just does his job and does it well. never know he shocked a lot a people at the senior bowl and handled all challengers. Starting OC instead of Martin and Martin slide outside to ROT or OG down the road. Streif signed a contract that almost guarantees his retirement as a saint even as a swing backup.

169 CB DONTAE JOHNSON NORTH CAROLINA STATE

My favorite FS/CB in the draft. yep he has played them all. Nickle Slot CB FS and some strange hybrid LB scheme at NC state at one time. So he needs to be coached up. here is your big tall CB/S everyone wants 6021 200 and get this 4.45 in the 40. Thats if he is here. I think the saints would need to trade back into the four to get the kid . but there is a shot.

202 OT JUSTIN BRITT MISSOURI 6057 325
Odds are he will never be a starter but he can play every position on the OL and has the ability to be a long snapper. just a solid Joe that can work as a solid back up for many years in the NFL. but you never could tell he is the type that could surpise you. love that blue collar lunch pail toting mentality types in the trenches

**********Realitically in round 2 IMO**********

I am not guessing at WR, but there might be a possibility that Landry might be there. If so that would be my second no brainier pick in this round. right now the boards are all over the place.

DT Daquan Jones Penn State is a solid option god knows the DT rotation could use some help. do not forget about Deandre Coleman later in the draft. round 5 would be an option.

I think if some of the hype holds true DE will drop in the drop. could a Trent Murphy be on the board?

So rounds one and two are kinda of a dream and if the saints moved up to get Martin ahead of the dolphins i could fully understand the move. he opens up the draft even more than it is now.

i am pretty set on on the last 4 rounds. though DONTAE JOHNSON could be a stretch in all honesty. there in the fifth i doubt it. But Noorwood is my #1 WR target after day one and maybe two of the draft. he just may surprise people and go in third. that sub 4.5 was huge for him. people were wondering if he could go sub 4.6 much less sub 4.5.

here ya go i am going out on a limb and say Noorwood is a solid sleeper to go in the second round even.
