Eagles’ Jason Peters: Saints ‘got lucky and beat us’
The Philadelphia Eagles season ended early when they lost to the New Orleans Saints in the Wild Card round of the NFL playoffs Saturday night. Drew Brees led his team to victory despite throwing two interceptions.
Nick Foles on the other hand was closer to perfect throwing no interceptions and two touchdown passes. Some inside the Eagles locker room felt like the Saints weren’t the better team. “I felt like this was the year,” left tackle Jason Peters said, via Geoff Mosher of CSNPhilly.com. “We would have won, we would have had to go face [No. 2 seed] Carolina. I felt real good about playing them, but like I said, we got knocked out and we’re at home now. “They got lucky and beat us. We beat ourselves in the first half and they came out with the win.” He wasn’t the only one feeling this way. “We lost to a team that wasn’t necessarily better than us,” cornerback Cary Williams said. “They weren’t better than us. Period. But [they were] better tonight. They got the job done.” Eagles' Jason Peters: Saints 'got lucky and beat us' - FanSided - Sports News, Entertainment, Lifestyle & Technology - 240+ Sites |
Re: Eagles’ Jason Peters: Saints ‘got lucky and beat us’
In the dome it would have been 45-14.
Eagles were 'lucky' we gift-wrapped 2 first half interceptions |
Re: Eagles’ Jason Peters: Saints ‘got lucky and beat us’
Yea the picks were bad of course, but I felt like we were starting to take total control of the game until Keenun went down.

Re: Eagles’ Jason Peters: Saints ‘got lucky and beat us’
Lucky is when you outscore the home team in the playoffs these days, and the better team is the one that gets outscored at home in the playoffs. Makes sense to me.

Re: Eagles’ Jason Peters: Saints ‘got lucky and beat us’
“They got lucky and beat us. We beat ourselves in the first half and they came out with the win.”
Man I'd hate to see what beating yourself is when you DON'T get two interceptions that leads to 7 (should have been 10) points. |
This is the kind of thing that pisses me off!
Jason Peters " The Saints got lucky. We beat ourselves"
No, let me explain you something, Jason. Our defense is better than yours. You took away our pass game and were unable to take away our running game. We took away Shady's cutback, stopped your run, and were still able to stop your passing game too. No luck about it. We mauled you, baby |
Re: Eagles’ Jason Peters: Saints ‘got lucky and beat us’
I think they read into the "can't win on the road and in the cold hype"; might have over-looked us a bit. They had to think they would be able to put massive rushing yards on us...
|
Re: Eagles’ Jason Peters: Saints ‘got lucky and beat us’
Sounds like they bought the "can't win on the road" talk and may have been looking past us. Definitely they were not expecting a good run game. And winning in the playoffs takes a little luck, it's about time we had some in our favor.

Re: This is the kind of thing that pisses me off!
Let him whine! Doesn't matter one way or the other, they're still keeping the couches warm next weekend...
|
Re: Eagles’ Jason Peters: Saints ‘got lucky and beat us’
What specific moments were lucky? Shutting down their run game, completing big pass plays, running right at them, converting 3rd downs, making a chip shot kick...if anything, they had way to many chances to win it. When you can't win with those chances that's not a good team. The better team won.

Peters also said they beat themselves in the first half. They got two INT's and seven points plus a barely missed field goal out of the first half yet they beat themselves. |
Re: This is the kind of thing that pisses me off!
Philly was lucky Drew threw two picks; otherwise they would have been embarrassed at home...
|
Re: This is the kind of thing that pisses me off!
I'm just glade we haver a defense that throwing an interception doesn't mean a nail in the coffin.
Something we didn't have last year |
Re: This is the kind of thing that pisses me off!
Damn!! So many Haters
|
Re: This is the kind of thing that pisses me off!
So the better team lost.
11-5 vs 10-6 26 vs 24 Down to our 4-5 string CB late, lost OLB in game, our best all round back pre game. The Saints rushed for more yards, passed for more yards and dominated tine of possession. Yes the best team lost Stay classy Philly |

Re: This is the kind of thing that pisses me off!
The dude is delusional. Looking at the numbers, the only place that Philly didn't get a total butt whuppin was on the scoreboard. Rush yards, pass yards, first downs, time of possession say the Saints should have won by 20 or more. But for the two picks they likely would have.

Re: This is the kind of thing that pisses me off!
Lewis was our 5th DB to go down (Vaccaro, Greer, Robinson, Davis) and thanks to RR we still have the 4th ranked pass defense.
|
Re: Eagles’ Jason Peters: Saints ‘got lucky and beat us’
If they start going by record that would've been our home game and it would've been 42-14. Luck is a QB for the Colts and don't have **** to do with the Saints.

Re: This is the kind of thing that pisses me off!
The winner from Saturday Wildcard game in Philly?
Saints and Andy Reed So, the Chiefs lost but they got there. Sometimes getting fired is a blessing. Andy is a winner. I do not need to explain the Saints. |
Re: This is the kind of thing that pisses me off!
Amazed how well our pass rush was able to mask the liabilities we have in coverage in the secondary now; Seattle exposed us in the last playoff confrontation - curious to see if we can maintain the pressure...

Re: This is the kind of thing that pisses me off!
We couldn't win in the cold. We couldn't win on the road. We couldn't win against a very hostile fan base. We did all of that just a year after we lost our coach for a season, a couple of draft picks, and had the worst ranked defense in history. Luck was only a factor in the Colts/Chiefs game; Andrew Luck!

Our Rbs running 185 yards blowing holes in their defense and shutting mccoy down to 75 yards is pure luck i guess

Re: Eagles’ Jason Peters: Saints ‘got lucky and beat us’
According to this logic he would have to say that the Eagles got lucky when they beat the Cowboys

This from a guy whose fan base believes that beating your woman across the head and neck is the only way to show you care. Better restart your lithium, Jason.

Some of those Eagles should form a support group with roddy white. They can start next weekend since, you know, they won't be scheduled to go the office.
