The Philadelphia Eagles season ended early when they lost to the New Orleans Saints in the Wild Card round of the NFL playoffs Saturday night. Drew Brees led his team to victory despite throwing two interceptions.
Nick Foles on the other hand was closer to perfect throwing no interceptions and two touchdown passes. Some inside the Eagles locker room felt like the Saints weren’t the better team. “I felt like this was the year,” left tackle Jason Peters said, via Geoff Mosher of CSNPhilly.com. “We would have won, we would have had to go face [No. 2 seed] Carolina. I felt real good about playing them, but like I said, we got knocked out and we’re at home now. “They got lucky and beat us. We beat ourselves in the first half and they came out with the win.” He wasn’t the only one feeling this way. “We lost to a team that wasn’t necessarily better than us,” cornerback Cary Williams said. “They weren’t better than us. Period. But [they were] better tonight. They got the job done.” Eagles' Jason Peters: Saints 'got lucky and beat us' - FanSided - Sports News, Entertainment, Lifestyle & Technology - 240+ Sites Last edited by papz; 01-05-2014 at 02:40 PM.. |

In the dome it would have been 45-14.
Eagles were 'lucky' we gift-wrapped 2 first half interceptions |

Yea the picks were bad of course, but I felt like we were starting to take total control of the game until Keenun went down.

Lucky is when you outscore the home team in the playoffs these days, and the better team is the one that gets outscored at home in the playoffs. Makes sense to me.

Man I'd hate to see what beating yourself is when you DON'T get two interceptions that leads to 7 (should have been 10) points. |

This is the kind of thing that pisses me off!
Jason Peters " The Saints got lucky. We beat ourselves"
No, let me explain you something, Jason. Our defense is better than yours. You took away our pass game and were unable to take away our running game. We took away Shady's cutback, stopped your run, and were still able to stop your passing game too. No luck about it. We mauled you, baby |

Re: Eagles’ Jason Peters: Saints ‘got lucky and beat us’
I think they read into the "can't win on the road and in the cold hype"; might have over-looked us a bit. They had to think they would be able to put massive rushing yards on us...

Re: Eagles’ Jason Peters: Saints ‘got lucky and beat us’
Sounds like they bought the "can't win on the road" talk and may have been looking past us. Definitely they were not expecting a good run game. And winning in the playoffs takes a little luck, it's about time we had some in our favor.

Let him whine! Doesn't matter one way or the other, they're still keeping the couches warm next weekend...

Re: Eagles’ Jason Peters: Saints ‘got lucky and beat us’
What specific moments were lucky? Shutting down their run game, completing big pass plays, running right at them, converting 3rd downs, making a chip shot kick...if anything, they had way to many chances to win it. When you can't win with those chances that's not a good team. The better team won.
