Report: Steelers to meet with Bills LB Arthur Moats | ProFootballTalk
Interesting...we made some room with Keenan Lewis and now this guy has announced a figure he'd like... ...or is a long-term deal for Graham coming due?!? |

Analyzing Saints' salary-cap future - New Orleans Saints Blog - ESPN
As for Jordan, the Saints are expected to exercise a fifth-year option on the Pro Bowl defensive end this spring that will likely cost somewhere between $6 and $8.5 million for a one-year deal in 2015. If they exercise that option, Jordan can't become a free agent until 2016. Big decisions: Linebackers Curtis Lofton and David Hawthorne are both scheduled to receive big roster bonuses in 2015 that could force the Saints to make a decision on their status. Lofton has a roster bonus of $4.5 million due in 2015, plus another $2.5 million in salary and workout bonuses. If he continues at his current level, Lofton could well be worth a total of $7 million. But his contract was clearly designed for that to be a “prove it” clause. Hawthorne, likewise, is due a $2.5 million roster bonus in 2015, plus $2 million in salary. |

2m - Sign drafted players 400k practice squad Leaving 1.2m in case we have an injury to pick up a warm body. I do not see that little bit of cap space as an opportunity. With Grubs and Evans not restructured yet, those would be the keys to a long term deal for Graham. Even is grahams long term deal was mostly signing bonus and minimum salary it would hit us for 3m this year. leaving us short for the draft and PS. |

Per OverTheCap.com we have $2,138,782 available in cap space...
» Over the Cap- New Orleans Saints 2014 Salary Cap and Contracts And Sportrac.com says we have 3,618,782 available in cap space with no reference to the Strief contract nor the Keenan Lewis new cap number... New Orleans Saints Salary Cap - 2014 Breakdown |

If you notice overthecap shows that Cap Space number is "Est." All in all.... overthecap shows less money to work with so no, it isnt a prelude to a graham contract. That will come with the restructure of Grubs and Evans. 7m + 2.1m to Jimmy Graham is 9.1m. Leaving you with $0.00 to sign draft picks, practice squad, take the team to Sonic...:bng: |

And their currently showing the Non-Exclusive Tag money against Graham, so if Loomis has that much too work with this season, he may guarantee more money down the road to keep Graham at that cap number this season... |

It's a case of take only when you need and not before. With 2.6m in cap space going to a long term deal for Graham will consume that. Draft picks will require 4m and the restructure of one of them. The second will be a restructure to have some space available to start the season. Now, if Jimmy signs the tag, one gets reworked and Loomis saves the other for a rainy day next year. |

McCown will be our backup QB for another year.

Re: Free agents 2014
ok Mickey was my favorite punching bag in the front office for years but the guy has done a heck of a job in the past few years i have to believe he has this all mapped out to work.
from what i understand jimmy's tag figures are already included in our cap figures. plus keep in mind Grubbs and Evens already restructured their contracts in 2013. increasing their signing bonuses again? that would be wild. pro-rate yet again over the remaining contract? trying see the business sense in that move. Right now i really can not even grasp the logic i would start exploring other options |
