I think they're all just players under contract after the season is over. Practice Squad status is set the week before the season starts.

Most people are on the practice squad for a good reason.

Most NFL teams resign each teams entire practice squad.sometimes another team will out bid another team.However no rule prevents a team from paying each practice squad player a full one year normal 53 man roster one year salary.Because of this most years one of only a few teams to do so.therefor most resign with Saints.

Practice squads are the last thing signed before the season and not all practice squad players are worthy of the active roster.

So no.... We have not resigned a practice squad in 3 years and we will not start now. Tanner is the only name that reappears. I would also say none of them are moving up unless Tanner does something amazing.

Joique Bell is the only PS player that has work a game jersey as far as I know...

All practice squad players are free agents. You can sign your own or anyone else's

As for Tanner, he has had three seasons to get on the field. Time to go get a job as a high school PE coach

Go to a nfl tranaction site look you will find most nfl teams resigned the teams practice squad players to what is called nfl reserve futures contracts for next seasons training camp

As far as for the Futures contracts, 95% of those are for the 90 man camp roster. The other 5% are for players that a team sees promise in and wants as a project. No one is resigned to a practice squad for the following year.

Picking up players for training camp has nothing to do with the following seasons practice squad. Practice squad players are poachable and not under contract.

Lastly, who in their right mind would sign a contract in Jan to be on a practice squad the following year/ Sort of railroads their possibilities doesnt it?

We have already signed 3 players to futures contracts and none of them were on our PS.

Could be with Saints to be 17,000,000 over cap next year Saints will have to bargin basement shop to fill out back end of roster.Also you can now have 90 players for camp up from 80 so a lot of spots to fill.I think half have a real shot at 53 roster.I know you can only set the practice squad each year after final cut down to 53.what most teams do is after last regular season game is resign all or most to nfl futures contracts.

Saints are only 9M over a cap that has not been set yet and we have 1.5ishM carry over so we are less than 7.5M over next years cap if it doesn't go up. Cutting Will Smith drops it another million.

The 80-90 expansion was last April, this is its second year coming up, and whether you sign a player in free agency or off the practice squad the basement is the same. League minimum is league minimum regardless of where they come from. I would rather sign UDFAs that our practice squad.
