I do not want the Saints to strive to become like either of these teams. It is not who we are as a team or city. Green Bay didn't have their starting QB for damn near half a season and still made it. If Brees missed the same number of games as Rodgers we wouldn't have made the playoffs at all. Green Bay will be in the thick of it like it or not for a long time to come.
I agree that Seattle and SF look like the teams to beat for the next few years, but we aren't far off. IT is going to start with fixing our offensive line and adding a WR who can stretch.
Brees was not near as accurate this year because our line gave him absolutely no time in the pocket and he was running for his life and we got to see how good our receivers really are. Brees, when he is protected, makes our receivers look better than they actually are. Don't get me wrong we have good receivers, but no where near great.
This is why it kills me when Falcons fans try and say that Ryan is better than Drew. We saw what happened to Ryan this year when he didn't have elite receivers to throw too. If Brees had Julio and White it wouldn't even be fair.

We draft an early round WR and draft Online and DB with a couple decent free agents sprinkled in and we can be right back at the top.

Yes, because their division was straight garbage. This team with this defense could have easily gone 8-8 with McCown at QB, especially considering how ineffective Brees/offense were down the stretch.
