Is Armstead the future?

this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; I am confident he will be a better player than Bushrod was. And Bushrod was no slouch....

Personally I like the way the guy improved but I don't know how comfortable I am not having a contingency plan. Especially after seeing how much Brees was pressured this year.
Too early to tell. I suspect what will happen is a few tackles will be brought in to camp and he will compete with the rest of them for that position. If we draft a tackle in any round it will be to come in and compete for depth. Armstead's play at the end of the season doesn't warrant burning a first rounder.

While it does seem it is his to lose, he didn't beat out Brown in camp last year and that does speak to something...

Very true. I think with our 'quantity' that we will not draft a tackle, but might see a C. We have Jones, Harris, Nseke?, and maybe Brown. Not sure if any can move to G and lock down a backup spot, but we don't have room for all of them.

And I remember an interview with Strief when he was hurt last year, they asked about how the Saints would address RT (when we had all those injuries) and he said "look out for Bryce Harris, he's got the potential to become a player in this league".

Fine. He blocks players he is supposed to block. Doesn't block those that he isn't supposed to block. Like his own lineman.
