Is Armstead the future?
Have they seen enough of him to be comfortable penciling him in as the starter next year? If he is the future do we bring in a solid veteran for a year for him to get some experience behind or do we just put him out there. If he's not the future would we be able to find someone in the draft that can instantly come in and start or do we go the FA route?
Personally I like the way the guy improved but I don't know how comfortable I am not having a contingency plan. Especially after seeing how much Brees was pressured this year. |

I really think so. I do agree we need to have a backup plan just in case, but I like Armstead a lot.

Re: Is Armstead the future?
Oh, he's the future at one of the Tackles for sure - how good he will be is another thing...
We spent a second round pick on a Safety that couldn't cover and then compounded the problem by overpaying for him with a bad contract... If he works hard and we get the coaching, he could be special with that athleticism... |

so far so good.
need quality pick in the draft and need to get depth on the OL that can slide inside if needed. one thing we lack is versatility on the OL, |

Seems like every year a guy gets a call at his bartender job and ends up a starter somewhere (Steelers?). Sign one early, or just keep Brown. From August: Coach Sean Payton confirmed that Charles Brown has sewn up the starting left tackle job. Once the pads went on, Brown ran away from athletic rookie Terron Armstead and former No. 2 overall pick Jason Smith. Although he's made just eight career starts, the Saints feel comfortable with Brown on Drew Brees' blind side. "That's one of those positions where no news is usually good news," Payton said. "He's been real consistent." |

Re: Is Armstead the future?
What about Jones. Did you forget we still have Marcel Jones on the roster? I think we should give him a try at RT tackle. He's got to move better than Strief and I think I read somewhere that he's a great run blocker. The knock on him was that he didn't have enough upper body strength. Well 2 years in the weight room should have taken care of that.

I think Lelito will be good as well, and might push DLP out the door in training camp |

Re: Is Armstead the future?
He sure looked like it. It's a huge bonus to the team when one of it's biggest weakness becomes a strength. Not having to find a LT in the offseason is like getting an extra draft pick.
