I\'m a little disappointed. I\'m hoping we can grab that last spot in everybody\'s power rankings, as the worst team in the NFL. At least it gives us something to shoot for.

We\'re not really sure how people root for this team. It must just make you sick to your stomach.
Pass the Pepto Bismol over here, man. :weepy:

Most coaches want to be Head coaches. You never hear of them wanting to be head coaches cause its a silly question. You dont get in this buisness to help someone win and let them get the big contract and all the credit. The 49ers sure had a good things going in the 80s, but Gruden, Holmgren, Mooch, Shannahan, Reid and so on... all are decendents of that coaching staff... They got offered positions and moved on.

So maybe they havent said they want the head coacing job, but why wouldnt they? You dont take a job as a mid level assistant if you dont think there is a chance for you to move up do you? No everyone wants to be in charge. It is only time before they do. I think 2 superbowls with 1 team is enough for them to want to do it on their own.

ok...ok...your the coordinator for the patriots...do you...1..keep your spot...wait for a good team to come available...2 wait for the pats head coach to go somewhere else..and take over his spot...or 3..go to the saints..yeah...thats what our chances are of getting one of these guys...slim to none..besides..with miami waiting in the wings..we are not really a priority for anyone to look at..heck...we may still have the same group of guys next year...it could easily happen...

shawowdrinker,

Both coordinators for the New England Patriots interviewed for head coaching jobs last year. We know the teams available with vacancies last year all had less talent than the Saints. Neither was able to complete their interviewing though because New England being in the playoffs, they were nto allowed to interview the week of the divisional round of the playoffs and beyond. That rule has changed this year to allow an additional week so they will be able to do second interviews. Make no mistake, one if not both of these guys will be coaching somewhere. You think Marv Lewis really wanted to go to Cincy? But he got hsi chance to be top banana and he took it, like any good coordinator would. Belichek is not gonna suddenly leave or Dungy or Cowher or Reid and leave a coordinator a ready made superbowl team.

but..like you stated..these guys interviewed last year...completed or not..they had all off season...they didn\'t go anywhere...i just really have a hard time believing that any one of these guys would come over here..or that they would do much better than haslett if they came...if you honestly think that this is one of the most talented teams in football...then i have to question that ..not question you as a fan..because i know what people say about the abundance of talent on this team..all the sports experts..and nfl analysts..but actions speak louder than words..and even without the loss to san diego that broke our spirits..this has been a team with a total lack of ability...to do anything right week after week..there\'s not a coach alive who could come in here right now and make us winners...and there are few guys who leave as coordinators..and do a great job the first time out of the gates...and i am just sick of watching benson try to cheapskate his way into a title...if we don\'t sign a big name...nfl head coach...who knows what it takes..from experience to take a squashed team..and make them legit...our chances are very slight that we will be a playoff team any time in the next 4 - 5 years..

there\'s not a coach alive who could come in here right now and make us winners...and there are few guys who leave as coordinators..and do a great job the first time out of the gates...
I disagree with this wholeheartedly.

Again, I disagree. Ditka was a big name, how did he do here? Haslett was a nobody, and while he isn\'t the answer he\'s a lot better than Ditka, no?

I\'ll tell you what - you name all of the current head coaches who you think are really successful right now that were successful as a head coach somewhere else first. Once you do that, I\'ll name all the coordinators that have been successful in their first post. We\'ll see who has more.

Next, which \"big name\" NFL coach do you want? Johnson? Mora? Who else do you see as a better option?

Won\'t happen, but as far as head coaches go, there aren\'t much better than Andy Reid.
