Will Smith
Johnathan Vilma
Scott Fujita
Curtis Lofton
Scott Shanle
....
..
..

They were all on the same team at the same time. We had a crap load of leadership for the worst defense in 2012.
Nope, not true. Fujita was gone in 2010 and Vilma and Lofton didn't play much together because of Vilma's suspension and injuries. Lofton was Vilma's replacement. Will Smith was asked to do many things in his tenure, put on weight to be a run stuffer, drop weight to be a pass rusher and he did all of that. I think Smith had a nice career with the Saints.

Correct, Lofton was the only oddball out.

He was asked to do many things, and he did them. But not successfully.

Will Smith spent the season on IR, never made a home game to support his team on the sidelines. I know because I have him on my Instagram and I can show you what he was doing on game days. That is no leader, nor is it a 10m a year player.

The Raiders.

Oakland Raiders beat writer Vic Tafur said it is possible the team could show interest in veteran SS Roman Harper, who was released by the New Orleans Saints. However, he said he really could see the team showing an interest in DE Will Smith, also released by the Saints. Smith has a history with Raiders head coach Dennis Allen - See more at: Raiders | Could show interest in Will Smith - NFL Hot off the Wire

Jack, you're being hard on Smith.

The guy was above average and healthy throughout his career. Charles Grant, however, was a waste of space.

He was average at best only produced 2 double digit sack seasons better run stopper than pass rusher

Surprised we cut Greer. Now we really need a CB. Not surprised by the others though.

I think Vilma and Smith were overdue, I do thank them for the good years, they were solid. Harper, I like him and if he can get resigned to a lower pay I wouldn't mind resigning him but if he leaves who will we talk about as much on this board. Greer, I would like him back at a lower rate but alot depends on how he heals if no one is brought back thanks to them also.

Statement from Will Smith.

Statement from Will Smith on his release from the New Orleans Saints today:

"While it was always my dream to retire as a member of the New Orleans Saints, I recognize that the NFL remains a business first. I will always be grateful to Mr. Benson, Mr. Loomis, and Coach Payton for the opportunity they gave me to play the sport I love in front of football’s greatest fans, amongst some of my best friends. We accomplished great things during my time with the Saints, including winning the first Super Bowl in franchise history, and I am proud of my contributions during the decade I wore black and gold. My wife Racquel and I will continue our commitment to improving lives for New Orleans' youth no matter where my next stop in professional football takes me. I'm in good spirits, thankful and focused on training. My family and I welcome the next chapter in our NFL life. Who Dat!"

I am not sure Will Smith will have a next chapter.
