This could be Morgan's last attempt to make an impact in New Orleans. Hopefully his rehab went well.

Yep. He had a maniacus issue that we knew about when we drafted him. He aggravated it in practice, had it scoped and didn't return for the season.

I also recall he had trouble learning the playbook.

I don't remember if he was full, but he was back for training camp, and he played in preseason. Even scored. Buffalo? Pittsburgh?

That's what I remember reading.

Going back. You said Sean Payton brings WRs along slowly. There is no intentional slow pace, especially for a first round draft pick.

This was not the case with most of our receivers, including Meachem. Meachem was injured in preseason, and as mentioned couldn't pick up the playbook. He is also viewed as a niche WR same as Henderson and never moved past Henderson in the depth chart. He struggled, he is slow (Football IQ) and was his own reason for the time he took.

Here are some comments from 2007 from Roto:
With the way Lance Moore, David Patten, and Terrance Copper are playing behind starters Devery Henderson and Marques Colston, Meachem isn't needed. The Tennessee product has looked lost throughout the preseason.

Meachem is picking it up after a super-slow start that included showing up to pre-camp work overweight, but still has a ways to go before he's a fourth receiver. It's been suggested that this may be Meachem's "redshirt year."

Meachem underwent knee surgery prior to the season and failed to impress in exhibition games. He appears to still be a ways away from contributing.

Meachem, a first-round pick, is inactive because he's New Orleans' sixth receiver and has little value on special teams. Campbell has an injured back. Fred Thomas barely made the roster and is behind rookie Usama Young.

As a healthy inactive, Meachem has fallen a long way from the preseason hype. The returns of Marques Colston and David Patten and the emergence of Lance Moore and Devery Henderson have left him without an offensive role.

So here is my take on Meachem, he took at least two years to learn our playbook, his inability to "pick things up" is why he was cut from Sand Diego. He works for the Saints , well... because he has been here so long he finally understands it. Another team will not pick him up because they know it will take more than 1 season for him to pick up their playbook. The possibility of Sean Payton changing our playbook so that our game film from 2014 doesn't look like our game film from 2009 doesn't bode well for Meachem at all.:bng:
