Both the Saints and Robert Meachem would like to hammer out a deal that would bring the veteran wide receiver back to New Orleans for 2014, more than one league source has confirmed.
The Saints and Meachem’s camp had broached the topic of a new contract by Friday evening, one of the sources said. Of course, what will ultimately determine whether Meachem rejoins the Black and Gold is if he and the team can agree on how much money he’s worth to the Saints. In fact the only WR on the roster Meachem is actually without a doubt faster than is Colston, and if you were to give Colston the benefit of one offseason without some knee/ankle/leg surgery and I'm not sure it's so clear-cut anymore. Don't get me wrong, I like Meachem in general, wouldn't mind seeing him back, but for a guy with a reputation of being a deep threat he is very average when it comes to speed.
