6yr/56m...28 guaranteed...

Re: Saints sign Byrd.............
Now take care of the CB slot in the draft and our defense is going to be stupidly good.

Wondering if we should just cut Jimmy for the opportunity to sign Revis ...

Re: Saints sign Byrd.............
With Byrd we also may not really need to draft a corner. Your base nickel could be a 3-safety look, with 2 starting corners and either Robinson or White in reserve.

Re: Saints sign Byrd.............
3-3-5 look Jack. I see it all day.

Re: Saints sign Byrd.............
The last Bills player we signed worked out pretty good. Welcome to the Saints, Jairus Byrd!

Re: Saints sign Byrd.............
I had been saying we were going to sign someone big during FA. We didnt make all those moves just to sign Graham.
|
Re: Saints sign Byrd.............
Anyone else get the feeling we're going to let Jimmy walk?
|
Re: Saints sign Byrd.............
I love the move. Now it's time to find out in the coming weeks what it really cost us to sign byrd. Graham still needs to be signed and we still have the draft and practice squad players.
This reminds of when I was back in college (aka my broke days). I would enjoy going out for a good meal but I would be anxious once the meal was over because I new the check was coming at that point. |
Re: Saints sign Byrd.............
If we do, we can sign another big player and have nine draft picks.
|
Re: Saints sign Byrd.............
But but but.... we don't have any money.
Don't be surprised if we make another power move this off season. |

This time next year when people are whining about how we're going to keep Jordan, just remember we didn't have money last and signed Lewis. We didn't have money this year and signed Byrd. One thing we know for certain, some way some how Mickey Loomis will get it done. |

More reaction:
"The market for safeties was as hectic as any other position on Tuesday. Several of those teams mentioned above signed safeties of their own, with Donte Whitner, T.J. Ward, Antoine Bethea and Malcolm Jenkins among those landing deals. Byrd was the last big piece to fall at the position. The Saints deserve massive amounts of credit for jumping to the front of the line. Grade: A-minus. Yes, the contract is over the top. Promising any non-QB $28 million is borderline bonkers, and the Saints may live to regret that decision in a year or two. But in the immediate future, they’ll boast an incredible pairing at safety. The team that landed Byrd was going to have to jump into the deep end to do so. No one could have expected that team to be the Saints." Re: New Orleans Saints agree to terms with safety Jairus Byrd
Who cares about the Falcons and their *cough* "fans". They are just bitter because their defense is a perennial joke and they are stuck with a loser like Matt Ryan. Steven Jackson is two years past relevance, no more Tony G, Shoddy past his prime and that leaves Julio to worry about. But with that laughable o-line it doesn't matter. Last year was no fluke Falcons fans. Expect it again. Their d-line signings today were respectable but nowhere near enough to fix that wreck. The guard is mediocre at best. Lots of work to do to even be relevant again. Enjoy 3rd or 4th.
Rob Ryan just got another Lamborghini to work with. He is salivating adding another exceptional defender. Byrd and Vaccaro will be quite the tandem for years to come. Payton will find talent on offense and make that a top 5 offense with ease. We needed defense and we are sure getting it. |
