With the system we are running and Brees distributing the ball the way he does we don't really need a "pure" 1st round WR. We need somebody that fits a certain position in the offence. It would be nice of course to have somebody like Megatron or Andre Johnson but its no a need.

Personally, I'm not a fan of Mike Evans. I've seen a lot of big receivers over the years who everyone said would cause mismatch problems, but they end up just being big lumbering clogs. He's not fast, but more importantly, he isn't very quick. He used his size to his advantage in college, but this isn't college. I don't see a tool in his game that is a separating factor. I might be wrong. That's just the impression I've got from watching him.

I like Beckham's skill set a lot, but he is one of those guys who makes spectacular catches on one play and then drops a wide open pass on the next. Jarvis Landry has the best hands I've ever seen, and I truly mean that. He's not particularly fast, but is quick and refined in his routes. I think he's the safest pick of all the WR's but his lack of top end speed keeps people from talking much about him.

I'm still not sold on picking a WR in the first, though.

They are saying he will move to TE

Oh really? I hadn't heard that. I follow nfl much closer than college football.

Who is saying that? I haven't read that yet.

Going to a lot of other team sites where they say their team likes him as a TE. Also got some friends that are FSU fans who said because of his size FSU considered moving him to TE. Possibly another JG type, 6'5 240.
Steeler fans seem to love him because he fits that TE hybrid.

Tanner will make the team this year... and we will pick up plenty of talent in the later rounds. No need to splurge in the early rounds for a WR.

You don't need Evans to be fast or quick.

What you need Evans to do is blow up a CB who is trying to press him at the line and just catch a jump ball over a small CB.

Matthews, Adams, Benjamin or Janis would look great in Black and Gold.

I still would love to see Cooks fall to us. His production in the Pac-12 is impressive.
