Here' what got my attention...

COMPARES TO: Alex Mack, Cleveland Browns

OK, I'm sold.

Marcus Martin Draft Profile

"Lacks desirable grit, toughness and finishing strength to maximize his talent and is stronger than he plays."

Reading his weaknesses and the bottom line in his Draft profile reminds me of many other recent USC players. If he's available in the 3rd, maybe, but there has to be a higher value player available in the 2nd.

One of the many reasons I'm not a draftnik is because of the Strengths/Weakness' portion of the player profiles. No matter whose you read, they always seem to put in enough strengths and weakness's to cover themselves in case the guy turns out to be either Joe Thomas or Charles Brown.

Weakness: Plays a bit high at times, occasionally losing leverage or getting pushed back against wide-bodies. Does not play with a particularly wide base. Will lean forward too much when in space, losing his ability to sustain the block and allowing defenders to get him off balance. Sometimes misses his target in space. Lacks a great push in short-yardage situations. Needs quicker feet and lateral movement in pass protection to handle quick, penetrating three-technique tackles and adjust to blitzing linebackers inside.

That doesn't sound very good but it's from the player draft profile for Alex Mack. So I never know what to think.

So true! Players are over-analyzed to the point where these scouting reports are completely irrelevant. It's almost like scouting reports are an art form that don't actually have anything to do with the draft and the reality of playing football.

I think that we will pick a center ,but not before the 3rd rd. Mayock really likes Martin. Goodwin is a no brainer . We will sign him for not much.It make a lot of sense.IMHO GOOD MOVE.

Bring him on board and let's get to running the damn ball.

This is the guy I like. I believe he could do well between 2 pro-bowl gaurds. Strength and conditioning could turn this guy into a stud. I want a stud C more than any other position on the team, it will make the engine run smooth again. A WR wouldn't hurt my feelings either ,the kind with a good kick with hands.

Not knocking him but 1 Pro-Bowl appearance isn't normally indicative of a 12 year vet beating out the world.

He doesn't get passed preseason, and I doubt he signs for what Loomis wants to pay.

Who was saddened when we let him go? Now we celebrate his return....

He is a better option than DLP though.

I wasn't sad, per se, but would have preferred to keep him. Nothing wrong with bringing him in. Have you heard anything negative about him? I haven't. That's always a good sign and more than I can say for some of our linemen.
