Nah, Loomis got this. Next year is probably when we restructure Breesīto free up space.

I'm guessing we'll still be able to work out a long term deal with him in the 2015 offseason that would give him a lower cap hit that season... This is just a way of keeping him from hitting free agency.

Sure, the Saints are facing even more salary-cap constraints in 2015 and beyond. They now have $134 million counting against their 2015 salary cap for just 42 players, according to ESPN Stats and Information. And that doesn't include the looming new mega-deal for tight end Jimmy Graham.

Looming mega deal... Like a 2nd franchise tag :)?

Jimmy is an anomaly. One that is stuck between two competing values. His production and ability have 1 value (the higher), but his position has another value (the lower).

Presently Jason Witten has the highest ave contract value at roughly 7.5m/year
Gronkowski has the highest total contract value but it is still less than 7m/year.

Jimmy wants 10m+/year but his position doesn't warrant that.

Jimmy's 2014 tag is $7m
2015 Franchise Tag value is 120% (Second Tag for Jimmy) of the 2014 which is $8.4 Million.

So as a business exercise, in 2015 Jimmy Graham will either be playing under contract that he signs in 2015 for roughly 8.5m (ish)/year (Highest paid Tight End), or he gets a second tag and plays for 8.4m/year.

We all focus on Cap number but that is like focusing on monthly car note.. What do you want it to be? Loomis can stretch the years out and make it what he wants.

The real metric Loomis focuses on is the position value and the player performance. Once that is done he can make the payments what he wants.

Ironic that one of the best Cap Managers is employed by a Car Dealership owner :bng:

Ingram fits the zone scheme. One our offense ran better as the year went on. Not only does Ingram stay, his performance improves.

No, at least I do not see it that way. I believe it is more of a Sean Payton/Mickey Loomis are are not going to drop $5m/year for a Running back. Pretty much full stop.

Thomas 2.7m/year Rumor was he was shopped.
Sproles hit 3+m/year and was gone.

I am not sure the gravity of a $5m/year RB is fully understood. $5m/year is top 11 RB money.. That's a Trent Richardson, C.J. Spiller, Mathews, Charles.

Zone Scheme is blocking, nothing to do with the RBs.

Better throw in Lo-Jack so Gubbs doesn't have to go visit them.

5 years of kicking arse and making the playoffs (I am counting 2012 as a should have/would have) is not a window... That is a solidly maintained very good team.
