Re: Saints pick up fifth-year option on Cam Jordan
I hope Mickey is stashing some money away for a long term contract. Jordan has been solid since he was drafted and has gotten better every year. I see multilple pro bowls for Jordan and the entire Saints defense.
This is a young defense that is building around corner stones like Cam Jordan along the front D-line. I also fully expect our secondary to be a turn over machine with a lot of three and outs. This defense will give every offensive coordinator night mares. Byrd has been meeting with Ryan. I'd love to be a fly on the wall at those first couple of sessions together. Ryan has alot to work with......and this is before the draft even starts. Nice job Mickey. |

Saints' 2015 cap is loaded -- but worth it - New Orleans Saints Blog - ESPN
Sure, the Saints are facing even more salary-cap constraints in 2015 and beyond. They now have $134 million counting against their 2015 salary cap for just 42 players, according to ESPN Stats and Information. And that doesn't include the looming new mega-deal for tight end Jimmy Graham. |

Then we better bring home a ring this year. Our window of opportunity is now closing.

So can we interpret the non-action of picking up the elective option on Mark Ingram as a vote of no confidence?!?

...Or "prove you're worth it" type of a deal. I would imagine the Saints will try to re-sign him after the season if he shows he is worth it, but there's no way they'd spend $5M in cap on a RB with the body of work Ingram can point to at the moment. |
