This is the guy I had on my board. Huge upside. He is bigger than Sherman at (6' 3" 218lb). SJB and Sherman are the same height but Sherman is lighter. He has only been a CB for 2 years but brings experience as a WR (just like Sherman). At his Pro-day he ran a 4.46 not bad for a big guy Sherman ran in the mid 4.5s. SBJ has a verticals of 41.5" one of the top of DBs. He also ranked tops in many other tests at combine. Keep in mind Sherman went in the 5th round so many more people though he wasn't going to work out to be passed on that many times. Keep in mind Panthers just signed a 6' 4" 240lb wr, Tampa has 3 receivers that are 6' 5" 260 range, Atl has Julio and Roddy... On top of all of this he will be learning under Rob Ryan and Champ Bailey. Even Mayock thinks he could be a top cb under Ryan. Give the kid a chance. He is physical, big, pretty fast, and has the best teachers a guy in his position could ask for not to mention 2 of the best safeties to help him out in a jam. We also added a wr who has Reggie Bush speed and caught for over 1700 yards last year. We are on our way to being the top offense again this time with the top defense in the league! Can I get a WHO DAT!!!

Lets get de'anthony thomas to replace sproles.. I love our picks but we really need a speed back and hes perfect for us..

This is one of the main reasons you picked up Brandon Cooks. Although Thomas may still be in play I would love to see them take a chance on Andre Williams out of Boston College if he is still there in the late rounds.....

What is Nebraska's track record for CBs coming out of their system and transitioning into the NFL?

Yes! That a big if! A guy that run a 4.3 against a guy that run a 4.6 will have a 3 yard separation if the corner don't get a hand on them. Sherman is good for jamming and holding. You can't use that 4.3 speed if you have to carry 200lbs but with our luck the flag will be thrown a lot to set an example(eyebrow raised @ roger Goodell )

What's funny is this is not as big an if as you think..... What separated you from the top three defenses in the league last season is :

A. There players in most instances especially their Linebackers( Luke Kuekly..... Patrick Willis..... Navarro Bowman...... Earl Thomas...... Richard Sherman......Cam Chancellor etc...

B. The turnovers that they create by their pressure.

You hired your ball hawk, who has a career history of almost doubling the turnover production of your former safety Malcolm Jenkins.... You created one of the best safety groups in the league Byrd, Vaccaro, Bush, and Marcus Ball if he pans out.... Your returning a DLine with plenty of qb pressures, at least 28 sacks from 3 guys, not to mention adding Victor Butler to the mix....

Also Rob Ryan had many of the same issues you see in this kid with Nnamdi.... He's coming into a great support system with Ryan as his coordinator and Bailey, and Lewis to teach him the ropes....

agreed. the thing is to avoids that miss match all cost. It is the stop and go accelerate and the quick cuts that kill taller defenders.

that what makes cook so deadly. question will be what happens when a LB or CB times a fit perfectly? will he get up.

But of all the CB on the board you got one of the biggest upside gambles on the board. for now put him on big lumbering WR and TE. in a year or two who knows

Well he's bigger and 4 inches taller than sproles, darren never had a problem of getting up after getting hit by an LB or CB, don't think that needs to be worried about

Nice pick. I guess center next. I assume we move up into the third.

Not many left now. You have FSU Stork that will go in mid 4th or Utah State Larsen which will probably will go mid 5th.

That my friend would be incorrect. He was moved because during his redshirt freshman year they had several injuries in the secondary and Bo Pelini suggested to him that he transition to CB much like Prince Amukamora had done. The feeling was he can try to go to the NFL as an average WR or an exceptional CB.

Good read on the kid. I like it a lot.
Also relieved he redeemed his 40 time at his pro-day. I think he ran in the high 4.4ish range.

I think had he run under 4.5 at the combine, he may have been picked a little earlier.

The first thing you should know about Stanley Jean-Baptiste is how to properly pronounce his name. "Stanley" isn't difficult, obviously, but that last name that gets people because of the French genealogy. Phonetically, the last name is "Gene BAP-teest", said with a slight French flair, the flair one gets from, say, picking off a pass as Jean-Baptiste did in 2011 against the Ohio State Buckeyes in one of his first games as a cornerback .
An important part, I have already heard his name pronounced in 3 different way.
