The Saints like to use three safeties on the field, so they were expected to take one even after signing Jairus Byrd. However, Vinnie Sunseri is a reach; I didn't think he would be drafted.

Could it be that he was drafted to keep him away from Atlanta?

Agreed but a Safety? We drafted 1st round last year. We signed the tender sheet for a real prospect. We took the #1 Free Agent. We need O-line depth/starters ....
