Keeping in mind that we have invested significant money into the safety position and being able to play 3 safeties much of the time, it seems unlikely we keep all these guys

four safeties seems to be the plan... Byrd, Vaccaro, Bush... and a battle between the Canadian/and Vinny Sunnseri for that last safety position

White - IMO, most of the criticism of him is complete nonsense. Once he became the starter, it took like 1 1/2 games for him to get his feet under him. After that he was everything you would expect from a good #2 corner. My guess is he is safe, if for no other reason that he's cheap. He's got to be one of the best performance/value players on the team.

Ditto, he got thrust into the #2 role, and performed admirably in his time there, everything with him depends on Robinson's health, and how fast SJB can transition from college wideouts to NFL ones....

Bailey - Let's be honest, we have no idea what to expect here. I could see Bailey stepping in and playing like a Hall of Famer and reviving his career just like Sharper did. But I don't think he's a lock for anything either. One of the most interesting storylines of this preseason is going to be Bailey trying to hold off all these young guys for a starting job.

What is crazy to me about the signing is you hear the name and just assume he's gonna make the team, without considering his age, the dropoff in his play, and the fact that he has to be on kind of like a pitch count now...... To me I think this is more of a brain picking situation, where they get veteran assistance for White, Robinson, SJB, if he makes the team....again you can't expect Keenan type production. This is a wait and see type of signing to me.

Robinson - I have been one of his biggest supporters and IMO he looked like our best corner all last preseason and early in the season until he got hurt. I would really love to see him come back and be the stud I know he can be. But I also see that he's got a cap number of $2.8 million. That is almost 5 times what Corey White is making

So much pressure on him coming off a bad injury, making to much money, spots on the line, I think we see the best of him this season, but a restructure is definitely not out of the question.

Jean-Baptiste - My guess is he'll be similar to Malcolm Jenkins in 2009, playing a lot of special teams and a few snaps on defense here and there. But if he surprises in preseason it'll be hard to keep him on the sidelines. A 6-foot-3 corner can come in handy with all the tall receivers in our division

I see him not being the #2 in the beginning, I really would love it if White, or Robinson step up and win that role.... because then SJB would have no pressure to play the spot right away, and he could spot play against the bigger recievers in our division or be the Akib Talib, on TE who we come up against....

Corey White did 'okay' but his mental lapses nearly cost us two games! he intercepted kaepernick in a huge game in primetime and then fumbled through the endzone

plus add that to nearly single handedly losing the eagles playoff game for us once lewis got hurt, I think coreys still got a ways to go before he can be depended on fully
