Stadium Poll
To say the NFL news these days is slow is an understatement. So I read an article or two about a possible new stadium in Nola. I love the Superdome but don't go to the stadiums in Houston and Dallas. You will never look at the Superdome the same again.
So let's make a poll! |

Re: Stadium Poll
No.
The draw to New Orleans will always be the town, not the stadium. Cities keep building these ultra-modern stadiums with tons of amenities just so they can compete. Complete waste of money. Here's What Happens When You Abandon A Football Stadium |

Re: Stadium Poll
I agree with Scott. The Superdome isn't just a football stadium, it's used for Car shows, gun shows, boat shows, home shows, etc. etc...
Now, while this does mean that even if there was a new stadium, the dome could still be used, the cost of supporting two such stadiums would be too much. Not to mention, there are many other things the state could spend that money on. |

Re: Stadium Poll
Where would the new stadium be constructed? Remember, one of the draws to New Orleans hosting the Super Bowl is that everything, hotels, entertainment, restaurants, etc., are within walking distance of the Dome. A new stadium would have to be constructed in a similar location to make it appealing to the fans.

Re: Stadium Poll
St. Louis needs a new stadium...that thing is HORRIBLE. I was amazed at how sad it was when I went to see the Saints game this past year. TVs are tiny. The Titan's stadium is decent, but the Superdome is still one of the best around.

Re: Stadium Poll
Our Superdome is iconic and just got a multi million dollar face lift. Not only that we finished second in our bid to host another Superbowl. The NFL apparently doesn't think we need a new stadium.

Re: Stadium Poll
Say what you want but even with the recent renovations theDome is light years behind other stadiums in the NFL. Instead of using band aids here and seats there I think we need to spend some real money. Gut the dome and start from scratch on the interior. Add a retractable roof and more seats and sky boxes. Yes the draw is the city itself but a state of the art facility would be a draw and get us more future SB bids. I feel like a state of the art dome paired with the city itself would put us in the running for the Super Bowl just about every year which would offset some of the costs over time. Leave the exterior alone except for the roof.

Re: Stadium Poll
We just hosted a SuperBowl and other than an ENTERGY failure, friends and business associates all commented on how excellent the amenities and the Dome were...
In fact several were under the impression the Dome had been re-built after Katrina - as in a totally new building, structure - and how nice the New Dome was... So this behind the times stuff holds no weight... Electronics (Bells, Whistles) may need to be updated every five-ten years (usually by the time they're installed they're outdated anyways); but the structure itself in no way needs to be replaced... |
