Why Denny Green benched McCown
Say you are the new head coach of a team mired in losing. In your first year, you expect moderate improvement as you are supposed to, but what's say your team goes on a little run. Your conference is weak by historic proportions and you are staring smack dab at the possibility of being in the playoffs with an under .500 record. Now you know your team is not gonna win a Superbowl and will get bounced unceremoniously in the first round, you also know you have a lot of holes you'd like to fill. What do you do? CHANGE QUARTERBACKS. That's right. Nothing sends a team into disarray like a qb change. Now you're losing again and headed toward that high pick in the draft which you expected all along. Noone expected your team to do anything anyway, and you even have something to build on for next year. Denny Green is a genius. Wish we had gone after him. Nice job Denny. Well played.

Actually the real truth is they aren\'t scoring points. When you are something like 3rd to last in the confrence in scoring and headed south yeah you need and can make changes. When the last place 49ers are scoring more than you and you are in the play off hunt you need to be concerned. The qb\'s have been flat even King only 119 yards. You may want to look deeper why he made that choice instead of bending half facts to make your own agenda.
I also recall an injury to a player on the Spurs which is why he was \'benched\'. [Edited on 2/12/2004 by Euphoria] [Edited on 2/12/2004 by Euphoria] |

Also, why do I need to look deeper? The team was 4-5 with McCown at the helm, in the playoff hunt, and 1 or 2 games behind the lead in their division. They were mainly running Emmitt anyway. Shaun King hasn\'t won anything on any level and when was the last time he started? Now they are going with a late round rookie? Open your eyes man. Try to check someone else cause I have reasons for everything I say. Maybe you should look deeper before trying to check someone\'s opinion. AND I did not say it was fact, but it makes sense. |

It is strange to bench him...knowing he had noone better..Maybe he tought they improved?..haha..
I think , honestly, Green was a victim of his own hype...He swore this team would be \'\'Playoff Contenders\'\'..at the interviews during the draft....and just hasn\'t been able to make it happen..but.the guy knows how turn things around..I think he was just overly ambitious...However..I do expect you\'ll see a different Cardinals Team next Year... |

I hardly check someone\'s opinion... however pointing out the fact that you base your opinion on is wrong so leaves no merit to your opinion. Look at the statistics and you\'ll see why the change at qb... same thing why Bree\'s hasn\'t been replace... \"he is producing\", and \"team chemistry is there\" You don\'t see that in AZ, baby.

Zona will be a contender in the next few years. They already have a stingy D, and alot of salary cap room I believe. Denny will have them boys playing out there in the desert.

4-2 in the last 6 and a two game winning streak is blah blah blah? Maybe the Colts should have benched Manning when they lost to New England the first game or the Packers should have benched Favre when they were 0-4.

Dude you have to watch the games to evaluate your team (or have a good solid opinion about)... sometimes stats don\'t reflect the game and sometimes W-L don\'t reflect the game, granted its what matters but when you are near bottom in offense and you know you need to do something to be competitive to compete for even being considered \'in the hunt\', sure do what you can to find chemistry with the offense, tweak it. There D is what has been winning games for them for now, Green knows he is going to need point production to keep it going.
Redskins HORRIBLE in offense... so would you do something to generate points and be more comptitive or do you go with the status quo of being HORRILBE the rest of the year... Gibbs is learning the hard way. [Edited on 4/12/2004 by Euphoria] [Edited on 4/12/2004 by Euphoria] |
