Why? Just one less game for the guys looking to make the team to shine... Coaches need to play the major starters less, like it looks like Payton will do this year.

No. He is at home being as classy as ever. Even though he has retired I still follow him on Twitter and he is pure Black and Gold. There is a reason why he was voted the Defensive MVP of the Saints after the 2008 season by his teammates.
