this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; I understand that Coach Shanahan might leave Denver after this season. Do you all think the Saints should lure him to come and coach? I think so....

I think we should beg the question:
Why hasn\'t Shannahan been successful since Elway retired and Terrell Davis had a career ending set of injuries? Let\'s get an answer to that first before we pick up the guy. SFIAH |

I would take a number of coaches seemingly on the hot seat. Shannahan and Fisher both are of interest. Holmgren, not so much.

If Shannahan can install that offensive line scheme on our team, I would be all for it. Picture Deuce running behind Shannahan\'s line. 2000+ yards a year, easy. He\'s spit out 1000 yard rushers with players containing 1/3 of Deuce\'s talent. And their defense is pretty stingy as well.

Unlike Fisher, Shanahan has had alot to work with. Granted, he has alllowed the team to evolve, whilst remaining competitive. HoweverI think that Fisher has really maximized on what he was given. I am willing to be overuled, but Shanahan\'s teams since Elway have lacked that killer edge. I think Fishers teams have had it, but just been overmatched by more talented clubs in the playoffs.
If memory serves correct, the Titans have never lost a playoff game they were favored to win, other than the Music City miracle? If there is an avid historian willing to prove me wrong then go ahead, but I think Fisher is nearing GOD status as a HC |

Shanahan said he was going to honor the rest of his contract..which has 4 years left...just in time to coach the new team in LA...interesting...

Is the rumor that Shannahan will be fired, or asked to leave , or that he is going to quit on his own?

OK, now to stir the pot a little bit.
Is Shanahan considered a \"great coach\" because he\'s really that good? Or because he had John Elway and Terrell Davis playing for him? Now that Holmgren has had a chance to get it done on his own in Seattle, does it look like Brett Favre had more to do with his being considered a football braniac? I guess my question is whether either of those guys could have superbowl kind of success if they had to come to New Orleans and do a total rebuild? |
