Re: Saints have to keep all three QBs

If you have to cut one its Luke---Griffin has to much upside an Kilgore ok as 3rd qb on practice squad. However this year Luke is best option tf Drew has to miss a few games. One game not won because no luke on field could be no home field playoff advantage. Is that worth a te or wr who will not be active on game day.

Griffin has better accuracy and pocket awareness. He's even hung in and taken a few preseason licks to make plays.

Griffin over McCown.

I strongly disagree. McCowan was throwing lasers! The TD's to JG were on the money in a very tight window and the side line pass to Cooks was a thing of beauty.

McCown's first 6 passes - 3 were behind his receivers. He's inconsistent and doesn't have the ability Griffin has.

Someone has already said that we should hold onto Luke until the final cuts and I agree. We may be able to trade him to a QB hungry team before all is said and done......he should have some really good value with two more preseason games to shine.

49ers QBs looked horrible vs Denver. Gabbert (what a joke) and some other guys were laughable. That's one team with no backup at QB position. I don't know if they would trade again for QB.

Smart money says to cut McCown in the final cut. The Saints will not have to guarantee his contract for the year if he's not on the roster for the 1st game. It's unlikely that a team will sign him to a free agent contract until some starting QB goes down. Keep him on speed dial if a issue arises.

Getting to the bottom line is that Luke McCown would be a starting QB in this league if he had the talent to do so. Griffin has so much upside that some team will try to tap him as a starting QB if they get the chance. And unfortunately the 3rd QB on the roster can really do nothing on the 53 man roster but hold a clipboard or be deactivated every week.

So give the slot to the 6th WR or the 4th TE or the extra safety that could be used on special teams. Make Griffin the #2 QB. He has clearly shown that he can handle the load if called.

SFIAH

I'm with this.
Just because they both could do the job doesn't mean we have to keep both. Are we really worried about facing McCown if some team picks him up? And the playbook thing is overrated.

I think we only keep 2 in order to keep that 6th WR or 5th safety.

I actually think that when it gets down to that last spot or two on the roster, I think Payton goes with keeping the best 53 guys who can make an impact (as he has often said), and it's not so much of a formula of we have to have 3 of this position, 4 of that, 6 of these, etc....if Griffin and Luke are still clearly neck and neck and both playing extremely well after Game 4.... I think we will keep both. Unless that 6th WR or 5th safety or unknown special teamer are playing extremely lights-out football....

if this is true ^ , and I believe it is, then there is no way we keep 3 qbs. Guys like Knox or Sunseri have earned that 53rd spot, not a guy who won't even dress on game day

Griffin looks like a natural running the plays. Mcowan looks stiff

Keeo Griffin and trade Griffin to someone in the afc (not afcn)
