When do first cuts come?

this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; I think Sincerie made quite an impression (not enough of an impression for me to look up the proper spelling of his name but maybe next week) I think unless the guy really screws the pooch he made his roster ...

I think unless the guy really screws the pooch he made his roster spot last night.
Morgan looked great again but then again can he stay healthy.
Cadet has not impressed but is there anyone else that can fill that Sproles role? Yes I know Cooks is supposed to take some of those snaps too.
Anyhow when do cuts start and who do you think will be gone?

Re: When do first cuts come?

August 26th before 4pm eastern time, all teams must reduce their roster size to 75 players. So most likely next Monday (25th) we'll see our first round of cuts

Coleman
Dixon
Sweeting
Kilgore
Flanders
Hamm
Welch
Armstrong
Weaver

Hard to see how any of these guys make the cut right now, although I'm sure Hamm and Flanders would be practice squad candidates.

I don't think Sweeting gets cut this early, especially with Bailey and Robinson on the shelf.

Re: When do first cuts come?

My first 15 to go based on what I've seen (or haven't seen) from 2 preseason games; everybody knows how much of an expert I am with running a successful NFL team:

1) T. Davis/LB: Disappeared in both games
2) T. Frederick/DB: Victim of amazing CB depth (did I really say that?)
3) Uzo-Diribe/LB: LOST
4) Vigil/DT: Too deep at DT
5) D Brooks/DB: Couldn't get on the field enough, and probably won't in 3rd game either.
6) B. Dixon/DB: Same as previous
7) Kilgore/QB: Poor guy with Brees, Griffin, and McCown ahead of him. Practice Squad a good bet.
8) Flanders/RB: Nope; not impressed.
9) Strozier/RB: deep at RB. I'd reeeeaaally like to see him on PRACTICE SQUAD.
10) Hawkins/WR: Too deep at WR
11) Hull/WR: Same
12) Palmer/WR: Same
13) Hamm/TE: Too deep at TE. Practice Squad?
14) Armstrong/C: Not yet. Practice Squad?
15) Weaver/OT: Not NFL ready

My "emotionally-driven, knee-jerk" cut?
T. Wade/CB: Hot garbage last night & thoroughly not impressed w/him vs STL either.

Can't see Sweeting or Kilgore going just yet. Hamm, Kilgore, Coleman and Strozier should all be on the final cut so they can be stashed on the PS.

Re: When do first cuts come?

If Strozier picks up the playbook I think he could possibly be a Sproles, he might not of did as well this week as he did last but he looks like he is doing the little things right.

Re: When do first cuts come?

Todd Davis has looked pretty well to me. I was going to mention him as being surprisingly good. I like him better than Knox and that #56.

Also I expected much more from Rufus Johnson. Either the coaches know what they've got in him already or he hasn't been good enough to earn time in the games.
