Re: The Saints have the best goofy red zone sponsor
The article author must have just woken up from his Rip van Winkle nap. The "Slap Ya Mama!" Red Zone has been a part of Saints preseason games for several years now.

Re: The Saints have the best goofy red zone sponsor
I mentioned this in another thread, but I am from the tiny little town where Slap Ya Mama originated. Bayou Chicot, about 9-10 miles north of Ville Platte. Population of maybe (maaaaybe) 300 people. It's not even really a town, more like a stretch of houses with a fried chicken joint, a gas station and one blinking yellow light at the only intersection.
The family that created it had two boys. They would pour all the ingredients into these wooden barrels, throw the barrels in the truck, then take them up to the top of this big hill near their house. Then rolled the barrels down the hill to mix it all up. We started buying it instead of Tony's just to support the local family (and because their dad, a lawyer, got me out of a bad ticket after I rear-ended the high school principal's Lincoln Town car - but that's another story for another time). They only sold it in little gas stations and grocery stores in the area. And now it's sold all over the country. I live in southern Indiana now and I can just walk into a store and buy the stuff. Blows my mind. |
