Please highlight the word "demand", "demanding", or the mere insinuation of that tone in my post.

If your goal is to tack a ridiculous climate onto a post then using "Falcons" and "class" in the same sentence would do it.

Re: Mark Ingram thinks he is an every-down running back for the Saints

Having confidence is important as an athlete, no matter how you spin it. I get so annoyed when someone thinks that an athlete saying that they think they can be great is somehow wrong. The world today, I swear, it doesn't matter what a person does... they are going to be criticized.

10-15 years ago, if someone like Manziel flipped off the other team, nobody would have even given a ****, today its the headline. I hate to think what it'll be like 10 years from now, maybe everytime an athlete says something they'll call congress into session.

On that decade ago comment... Babe Ruth was an alcoholic and wife beater.. So was Mantle, Joe Namath was a show boat. Too much personal life is reported on with professional athletes. Also those with out any blemishes are perceived to be pillars of their community.

I am with you on that.. They are normal people with high paying, high risk jobs.

Re: Mark Ingram thinks he is an every-down running back for the Saints

Here are the quotes in that article.

“If you watch our film, I think most teams feel like when I’m in the game, it’s going to be... run or play-action,” said Ingram,

“I haven’t caught a lot of passes in the NFL, but in high school I played receiver,” Ingram said. “If you look at my (online recruiting profile), it said ‘athlete.’ In college, I caught a lot of passes (60 receptions for 670 yards) and had receiving touchdowns (four in three seasons).”

"I've run the screen a lot when I was in college so I'm real comfortable running the screen," Ingram acknowledged, while also commenting about how much he has learned from Saints screen play extraordinaire Pierre Thomas.

"People can say what they want, think what they want, but sometimes you're just given a role going into a game and sometimes that's not part of it," Ingram said. "You just grow and learn. When you have the opportunity to show you can do it, you take advantage of it."

"I want to do everything," Ingram said. "I want to be involved in the passing game, the running game, picking up pass (protection). I want to be the most versatile player I can be."

Pure crazy talk huh? /sarcasm.

Haters are gonna hate on him no matter what he says.

Re: Mark Ingram thinks he is an every-down running back for the Saints

I think Ingram can and will be a 3 down back. I know we run a (herd) style with our backs but if 1 gets dinged up he will have his chance. When he busts a few 60 yd. TD and racks up a few 100+ yrd. games I will be smiling. Payton just has to run the damn ball. Ingram and Robinson can be the best tandam in the league if Payton sticks with a balanced attack. With the D we have I don't feel we will be blown out of any game and play-action is what we do best.

Re: Mark Ingram thinks he is an every-down running back for the Saints

opportunities?

he will get his opportunities

SP has forced opportunities on him since he was drafted and at times at the pulling the hot running back for him to get his opportunities

so far his versatility has not been shown with his opportunities he has been given

why has SP not thrown the ball with all the opportunities?

guess SP is the only person that can answer that given all the opportunities

so he will once again get all the opportunities in the world and SP will call the plays he has faith in him executing.

or till he gets a foot injury again with all these opportunities

I agree SP has forced him opportunities and hasn't been impressive.

Only thing he's sown me is that he is more of a short yardage back. I want him to do more and show more... lets hope.

I guess leading the team in YPC last year and averaging 5.2 YPC in the playoffs just isn't enough huh?

Ridiculous.

Re: Mark Ingram thinks he is an every-down running back for the Saints

I don't want any player on our team who isn't confident in their abilities. That is all I take away from the article. Whether he can or can't, remains to be seen.

I'm not writing him off as I think he has his best season yet. He'll lead our team in rushing and if he doesn't hit 1,000, I feel that it won't miss it by much. Now with that said, I can certainly understand the skepticism. Some people want to take that wait and see approach, and there's nothing wrong with that as well. People who go by the "Talk is cheap" mantra want to see production... and that's fine. All the young man is doing is showing confidence in himself.

I don't understand what the fuss is about.

Re: Mark Ingram thinks he is an every-down running back for the Saints

The biggest problem is Payton's predictability in play calling which Ingram brought up. Friday night on 1st down Ingram came into the game after being on the sideline for 2 series and the first play was a run to him which everyone in the dome knew. Then on 2nd down PT came in at which point I turned to my buddy and said here is a screen pass to PT. Bam there it was. Payton has got to mix these calls up with all the personnel if you expect them to be successful. He is just to predictable with his play calling when certain personnel packages enter the game.
