I am not going to really judge the team until after 4 games. Typically 4 games into the season you can see who is a contender and who are pretenders.

This isn't a good first showing, but if you have issues you want them exposed sooner rather than later.

D-backfields are similar to o-lines. They have to gel. Remember how long it took for out offensive line to gel last season? The Dallas game.

Look at how much wholesale change has happened to out defensive secondary, it will take a bit of time, and it helps a whole frikken lot when they have tape on a team to watch while preparing.

It may not happen over night, but it will.

Beyond that I have to question some of the schemes. Having your safeties play 40 yds off against a west-coast offense???

Beyond that I have to question some of the schemes. Having your safeties play 40 yds off against a west-coast offense??? Additionally the CBs were playing 10-15 yds off most of the game. If we don't press the WR at the line it's going to be a long day. Last year we played almost nothing but press coverage and it worked well.

And let's try and understand why our safeties were lining up deeper than usual.

You play back and limit the big play, giving your defense more opportunities to make plays; it's called a bend but don't break defense.

Sure glad we didn't allow the big play. we might have been able to hold them to 24-27 points................
