Nick Saban is one step closer to the Miami Dolphins.

The Sun-Sentinel is reporting today the Dolphins will interview minority coaching candidates Art Shell and Randy Shannon "within the next few days," according to a source.

The NFL requires that teams interview at least one minority candidate or risk a fine of $500,000. By speeding up their interview process, the Dolphins could be ready to offer their head coaching job to Saban by early next week.

Dolphins executives, who met with Saban on Tuesday night, have promised to comply with the league's requirements, which has put a standstill on the proceedings for several days.

Saban was unavailable for comment Friday, and his agent, Jimmy Sexton, did not return a call seeking comment.
